Williams pov
"What?, What do you mean Bob was in an accident?,what happened?" I panicked when Ruth informed me that Bon was in an accident a few minutes ago.
"I don't know Bob, " Helen called. She said she's been trying to reach you, according to her,she happened to be in the area at the time of the incident.
My mind spiraled through a thousand possibilities,'was this planned?','could mom have tried to kill him because what the hell was she doing at the site of the accident?'
"What's going on William?, you have completely zoned out,I know you guys work today but you don't have to worry,he's in the best hands"
I looked at Ruth,not with pity but with admiration, despite our years marriage,she didn't let her humanity get fucked up by my family,if only she knew the game that might be on play here.
"I'll be back Ruth,take care of the kids" I picked up my car keys and made my way to the hospital.
"Be careful William" Ruth's voice echoed from behind as I left the house.
Bob's apartment was in the way to the hospital,I got down to check out of anything was off,and I was right,Bob was running away ,the wardrobes were empty,the entire apartment scattered.It all boils down to the fact that someone was coming for him and he knew about it. All evidence points to Helen.Maybe she had figured out the affair between Dad and Bob.
I took a few pictures of the apartment, and headed straight to the hospital. My mom was sitting in front of the ICU when I got there.
"Hey Bob, you're finally here, I'm so sorry about your friend" she wrapped her hands around my neck,as she drew me in for a hug but I pushed her off.
"I know you had something to do with this mom, and I assure you I'm going to find out,just you wait"I whispered into her ears.
"What are you saying _"
"Hey doctor,how is he?" I cut her short immediately when the doctor walked out of the ICU.
"He's totally fine, just a few bruises,and he might have a concussion for a short while, but he'll be fine by tomorrow,no need to worry" the doctor reassured with a smile.
"Can I go see him now?" I asked, just like a little baby asking for a lollipop,was I in love with him,or was I just being human .
"Of course you can,"the doctor smiled and walked away.
"Where do you think you're going Helen?" I asked Helen as she was about to hurriedly enter the room.
"To see Bob, what do you think?" She replied barely looking at me ,she tried to shove me aside but I resisted.
"Mom,you have no business here,you can go home now"
"I saw him being carried out of the car, looking lifeless,it would really bring me peace to see he is okay " She insisted,her eyes slowly becoming teary.
I was about to give her stern reply when the devil himself arrived,"For crying out loud,what the fuck are you doing here dad?"
"I don't have the time for this William,move aside" dad thundered totally ignoring mom.
"Well, good evening Richard" mom who noticed the attitude greeted him sarcastically.
"Get lost Helen,why are you even here?" Dad rolled his eyes.
"Because she had something to do with the accident," I added.
"What?!!!"... In the split of a second,a family bickering turned into a ball room of chaos,dad had mom pinned against the wall almost strangling her as she tried to grab anything in her reach to hit dad with . I froze and I just stood there,the same way I stood all throughout my childhood when dad hit her,all the times I watched her bleed into unconsciousness.
The doctors ran in and separated him from mom,he pushed them off and stormed out of the hospital while mom sat on the hospital floor, some hospital staff surrounding and trying to comfort her .
But something was off though,I knew dad,he was always calm and collected,he would never lose his cool in public,this was for sure going to be in the news, maybe he loves Bob so much to risk it.
With mom and Dad out of the way,I went in to see Bob,he was already awake and agitated from the chaos outside.
"Bob, what's going on ?, please get me out of here,it's not safe,your dad wants me dead" he stuttered
"What are you saying Bob?,dad wasn't even there when it happened,what are you talking about"
"Who could have done it then, he hit your mom while we were in spain, and when he saw I me talking to and comforting your mom and ever since then he has been awkward,he wants to get rid of me William,help me out of here" He tried to get up from the hospital bed but he fell flat on the bed.
"Calm down Bob, you're perfectly safe , I'm here now" I held his hand and tried to calm him down.
The hospital room door swung open,"Please, you have to leave now sir,he needs to rest" a nurse ushered me out.
"But I just got here"
"Please, just leave sir,you can come back tomorrow " she insisted.
I turned to Bob and kissed him in the forehead"I'll be back Bob,just be strong and hang in there"
He smiled at me quickly but I could see the fear in his eyes .
I left the room with only one determination,I was going to find out whoever did this,no matter what it costs.
As I got into my car ,my phone rang,It was Lawrence.
"Hey Lawrence, what's up?"
"I'm alright,I might have some good news for you William"
"Yeah, I'm listening "
"The firm's shareholders are ready to buy out your dad's shares,by the next meeting on Monday,you'll be the Managing Partner,we don't have to leave or steal any clients."
