Chapter Two
" I'll give you your voice back once I've listed out somethings, you just need to nod your head once, so I can go on."
Is she seriously doing this right now, making a joke out of my situation when she knows I can't move something I don't have, yes I've read isekai novels once in a while when I was still in high school but it doesn't mention that, the male lead which obviously anybody with eyes and common sense knows I am, has no body, maybe a tran
"can you not be distracted right now, I won't be at fault if you don't pay attention and miss some vital information," she adds lightly, as if we're discussing the weather and not the fact that I'm currently dead, bodiless, and at her mercy.
I glare at her, or at least, I think I do. I can't feel my face, so for all I know, I look like a floating idiot. Still, I focus all my irritation in her direction.
She smiles. A satisfied, smug smile.
"Good. You're listening," she says. "Now, here's how this works."
With a snap of her fingers, something flickers in front of me. It isn't solid, yet it exists, a transparent blue screens layered with symbols, numbers, and texts scrolling endlessly, like one of those futuristic system interfaces I used to see in Animes.
So this is really happening.
"You are currently a soul bound to me," she begins. "Think of me as your… system."
My eye twitches. If I had one.
"You will be transmigrating across different worlds," she continues calmly. "In each world, you'll complete tasks assigned to you. Some will be minor, some major. Each completed task earns you points."
A large glowing number flashes before me.
0 / 50,000,000,000
My nonexistent heart stops.
Fifty… billion?
She watches my expression closely, nodding to herself. "Yes. Fifty billion points."
I try to scream. I really do. Internally, it's a full-blown meltdown.
FIFTY BILLION POINTS?!
DO I LOOK LIKE A WALKING POINT FACTORY?!
"As you can see," she says sweetly, "once you accumulate fifty billion points, you'll be allowed to return to your original world."
The screen changes again.
This time, I see images, luxurious houses, smiling parents, a healthy body reflected in a mirror.
"You will return in a new body," she adds. "You'll retain all your memories from your past life. You'll be reborn into a wealthy family, with loving parents, and a life far better than the one you left behind."
…Okay.
I hate to admit it, but that part sounds tempting, I never really had it easy while growing up at the orphanage, had to do anything and everything within my power to survive, so yes something that seems menial to others is enough to get me hooked quickly.
She leans closer, her voice lowering slightly. "You'll also be alive again. Fully human."
I swallow, deep down I'm scared of remaining in this soul state forever, I fear she may keep me here forever and I know before I die that I'll go insane fast.
"However," she says, straightening, "until then, you work."
Of course there's a 'however'.
"The worlds you enter are pre-existing story worlds, just picture it like those system stories you guys read in your world, novels, scripts, fate-bound realms. Your role will vary."
The screen flashes red.
FIRST WORLD: VILLAIN
I freeze.
Villain?
No. No, no, no, Villian don't end up good, they have a sub story of how they went villian mode but still end up killed by the main leads, I don't want to be a villian!.
She claps her hands together once. "Surprised? You shouldn't be. Balance must be maintained. Heroes don't grow without villains."
My internal voice is screaming.
WHY AM I A VILLAIN?!
I'M OBVIOUSLY MAIN CHARACTER MATERIAL!!
"As a villain," she continues, completely unfazed, "you'll be required to follow the core personality and fate of the role, at least initially. Deviating too early will result in penalties."
Another screen appears.
WARNING: OOC BEHAVIOR MAY RESULT IN POINT DEDUCTION
This is a scam.
A celestial-level scam.
"You'll earn points based on performance," she says. "Survive long enough, complete your objectives, alter fate where permitted, and entertain the world's balance."
Entertain?!
She tilts her head. "Yes. Some worlds like drama."
' it's definitely not the Gods and Goddesses that loves drama'.
Of course they do.
She pauses, studying me. "Now, nod if you understand so far."
I stare at her.
I don't have a head.
She sighs. "Mentally nod."
I mentally nod. Aggressively.
"Good," she says. "Your first world will begin shortly. Oh, and one more thing."
The screen flickers again.
This time, four silhouettes appear.
Tall. Distinct. Powerful.
My instincts scream danger.
She smiles, slow and knowing.
"In some worlds," she says softly, "fate may bind you to others."
That smile widens.
"Multiple others."
I feel it then—an unexplainable pull, heavy and inevitable.
"This system malfunction," she adds casually, "is what caused that."
' the system's fault, not mine and Lord God's curiosity, and obviously I'm not gonna tell him that, hehe'.
My dread skyrockets.
"And don't worry," she finishes. "You'll figure out what that means… soon."
She snaps her fingers.
"And now, get ready to be sent to your first world ."
