Chapter 93 - Difficult

This red-haired man seemed to exude an unparalleled dominance; the moment he appeared, almost all the wild Beyonders and Madmen who were fighting each other were put on pause.

When people are fighting each other, there is only one situation that can make everyone stop: the appearance of an exceptionally strong individual on the scene.

Everyone could feel the deep sense of oppression emanating from the red-haired man, like the innate fear a prey has of a Hunter.

"Sauron Family!" Someone, seeing the man's full head of red hair, trembled as if remembering something.

"Since you know I am from the Sauron Family, why do you commoners not offer your necks for the slaughter? There must be a limit to stupidity, right?" The red-haired man sneered with a hoarse voice.

However, what had originally been a deep sense of despair for the wild Beyonders, upon hearing these words, ignited everyone's fighting spirit. Those who had been holding back even a little now charged fiercely at the Madmen before them, with the thought of "killing one is a profit".

It must be said that the Hunter Pathway produces talented individuals, and they easily caused the Eternal Blazing Sun's losses to expand at a visible rate.

"Enough." The leading Solar High Priest, both shocked and enraged, shouted at the red-haired man, "Quickly deal with these three."

"Don't rush, don't rush." The red-haired man smiled, refusing the suggestion for a quick battle, and instead said unhurriedly.

Kvedo and the other two stood together, preparing for the opponent's attack.

"Reaper?" Erich suddenly said.

"That's right, you know my Sequence, aren't you despairing yet?" The red-haired man said leisurely, completely disregarding the anxious gaze of the leader beside him. "By the way, you're a Detective, aren't you?"

Looking at Karl's confused eyes, Kvedo explained in a low voice: "Reaper is Sequence 5 of the Hunter Pathway, while Detective is Sequence 7 of the Reader Pathway."

However, after hearing Kvedo's explanation, Karl had a moment of realization, but then immediately fell into deeper confusion. This time, it was confusion about how high Erich's Sequence was, and then he looked at Erich with somewhat complicated eyes.

Before this, Karl had always been confused about Erich's exact Sequence. Since Erich had not revealed his Sequence, and the first few Sequences of the Reader Pathway indeed had nothing extraordinary about them, Karl had always assumed Erich was a Reader or Sequence 8 of that Pathway.

But Karl now realized that Erich was actually Sequence 7, and he also heard what the Sauron Family's Reaper said: he himself was from the Gelin Family, Erich was a spy for the god of knowledge and wisdom, and Kvedo was a spy for the so-called CIA.

Combined with Erich's Sequence, which seemed quite high to him, everything made Karl feel a shock deep inside. However, what was even harder for Karl to accept was: did Kvedo and Erich approach him only to monitor him? I only just made a few true friends, are they all illusory?

Even though the Reader's strength lies in reading and processing information, Karl was unable to escape the confusion deep within his heart for a moment. If the two people he valued most were not sincere, then was everything in this world fake?

Karl was momentarily plunged into deep worry and shock, while not far away, the Soren Family's Reaper created a flame sword with his fire ability, casually brandishing the rapier as if a cat playing with a mouse, toying with Erich. Although Erich saw many flaws in the Reaper, he dared not rush forward and fight to the death with him. Sequence 7 of the Reader Pathway was truly too weak compared to Sequence 7 of other Pathways.

Erich could only smile bitterly when he thought of this. If it were Sequence 7 Magician of the Seer Pathway, or Sequence 7 Witch of the Demoness Pathway, or Sequence 7 Solar High Priest of the Sun Pathway, or the opponent's Sequence 7 Pyromaniac, or even the Astrologer, who, though not outstanding in actual combat, had undergone a qualitative change at Sequence 8, there were basically very few Pathway Sequence 7s that were as powerless as Sequence 7 of the Reader Pathway.

If Erich had advanced to Sequence 6 Polymath, that qualitative change would give Erich some confidence to contend with the Reaper opposite him, at least he wouldn't even dare to fight to the death.

Meanwhile, the Solar High Priest, without any pretense, snorted coldly and prepared to gang up on Erich. However, Kvedo had already picked up a broadsword on the battlefield, and after two flourishes, charged towards the Solar High Priest.

"Hmph, merely a Scholar, yet you dare to fight me." The Solar High Priest, seeing how smoothly things were not progressing, finally couldn't maintain the gentle smile he usually wore, and scoffed.

"We don't need to mock each other, do we? While the combat ability of the Savant Pathway isn't outstanding, the combat ability of Beyonders from the Bard Pathway isn't strong either, is it? Your strength lies in dealing with spirits and evil Monsters. When it comes to dealing with people, you and we are not much different." Although suppressed, Kvedo said without too much difficulty.

Although the Bard Pathway at the Solar High Priest's Sequence 7 added many Beyonder abilities, it did not significantly improve combat skills or Beyonder powers for dealing with humans. Therefore, Erich, a master of combat specializing in weapons, easily suppressed his opponent, and Kvedo, who had long studied swordsmanship and combat, was also able to hold off his opponent without too much difficulty.

"Hmph!" However, the Solar High Priest was, after all, the first sublimation Sequence of the Bard Pathway, so the Solar High Priest stopped and began loudly praising the Eternal Blazing Sun, while more intense solar flames began to emanate from his body.

During this brief period, Kvedo did not take the opportunity to launch a sneak attack, as his opponent was also battle-hardened, and Kvedo's Sequence was inherently lower than his. If his opponent seized an opportunity, Kvedo would surely die. Kvedo rushed to Karl's side and urgently said: "Karl, don't be confused. We are your friends, both Erich and I. We are truly your friends. Think about Erich's daily teachings to you, think about our happy times playing together. While we had certain purposes in being by your side, we never intended to harm you. If you trust me, then fight with us."

Kvedo did not speak for too long; these words were finished in less than half a minute. Then, without waiting for Karl to react, Kvedo left Karl first and went to another spot to prepare to face the Solar High Priest. Soon after, the Solar High Priest, with many layers of buffs stacked, charged over, making Kvedo truly experience the High Priest's brute-like form.

Karl was, after all, from the Reader Pathway. He looked with confused eyes at the struggling Erich and the barely parrying Kvedo, as well as the ongoing conflicts between the Beyonders and the Eternal Blazing Sun, where victory and defeat varied. Gritting his teeth, Karl knew he couldn't think about other things. He looked around, cautiously picked up a broadsword dropped by an Eternal Blazing Sun Beyonder, and walked towards Kvedo's direction.
