Chapter 68 - Primordial Water

The League's reward allowed Oliver to choose only one Legendary-tier resource.

Even though every single item here made his heart itch with temptation, he could only take one.

He didn't believe for a second that the League would truly leave him alone inside this place. Someone—or some Pokémon—was definitely watching from the shadows. Stealing extra items was something he didn't even bother to think about.

After careful consideration, only three choices remained in Oliver's mind:

Primordial Water

Fairy Horn

New Moon Feather

Primordial Water originated from the legendary Pokémon Kyogre and could be used by Milotic.

Fairy Horn was a fragment from Xerneas's horn; giving it to Gardevoir would greatly help her comprehend the origin of the Fairy type.

New Moon Feather came from the Mythical Pokémon Cresselia. It could either enhance Gardevoir's understanding of Psychic-type power or be directly absorbed by Celebi.

Gardevoir already had Lugia's Silver Wing, which had been subtly reshaping her physique over time.

As for Celebi, it had already walked its own unique path—what it truly needed now was simply vast amounts of energy.

But using a Legendary-tier resource purely as an energy supplement would be a terrible waste.

The true value of such resources lay not in raw energy, but in the understanding of power and the life level of their original owners.

Oliver believed that the fundamental difference between Legendary Pokémon and ordinary Pokémon lay precisely in their life tier.

Every evolution of a normal Pokémon was, in essence, a leap in life level.

Since Legendary Pokémon already stood at such an exalted tier, any part shed from their bodies would naturally contain fragments of their life essence.

That—

Was the real treasure of Legendary-tier resources.

After weighing everything carefully, Oliver finally made his decision.

Primordial Water.

Milotic was his starter Pokémon, the one that had accompanied him for the longest time. Now even Gardevoir possessed Lugia's Silver Wing—

As a Trainer, favoritism was the greatest taboo.

Oliver would never make such a mistake.

So Primordial Water would be Milotic's gift.

Primordial Water looked like a droplet of water suspended in midair, sealed within a specially designed container and emitting a faint blue glow.

Holding the container, Oliver walked toward the exit of the Treasure Vault. He turned around and glanced once more at the dazzling array of resources behind him, silently thinking:

One Fairy-type discovery in exchange for one Legendary-tier resource…

I still have plenty of ideas in stock.

Just wait for me—I'll come back for you all soon enough.

If the League knew what Oliver was thinking at that moment, they would probably complain:

Are you treating this place like a wholesale market?!

As Oliver stepped out of the Treasure Vault, the dozens of Elite Four–level Pokémon guarding the entrance immediately focused their gazes on him.

Being stared at by so many powerful Pokémon at once again, Oliver quickly raised the container in his hand, signaling that he had taken only one item.

The strongest among them—the Champion mid-tier Dragonite—shifted its gaze toward the shadows at the side, as if seeking confirmation.

After seemingly receiving an answer, it turned back, calmly lay down, and closed its eyes.

Seeing this, the other Pokémon also gradually returned to their slumber.

Oliver hurried over to Mu Xue and Yi Yunfei, carefully keeping his footsteps light, afraid of waking any of the guardians.

Mu Xue was about to ask what he had chosen, but Oliver frantically gestured for them to leave first.

The floor closed, sealing the downward staircase once more.

Only then did Oliver finally let out a long breath.

Being collectively stared down by dozens of Elite Four–level Pokémon—

Whoever experienced it would understand.

Mu Xue couldn't hold back any longer.

"What did you choose?"

"It's a droplet of water floating in the air," Oliver replied calmly.

"As for what it does exactly, I'm not sure yet. I'll study it carefully when I get back."

Inside the Treasure Vault, there were no labels explaining the origins or uses of the Legendary-tier resources. Perhaps even the League itself hadn't fully figured them out.

Everything Oliver knew came from the system—so naturally, he had to pretend ignorance.

Yi Yunfei nodded thoughtfully.

"I think I remember this one. This Legendary-tier resource was discovered in a秘境 completely covered by ocean. Investigators noticed that the water sphere didn't mix with seawater at all, so the League used a special device to retrieve it.

"Afterward, they studied it repeatedly but never figured out its function. However, instruments detected an enormous amount of energy inside—clearly Legendary-tier—so it was placed in the Treasure Vault."

Oliver's eyes lit up with curiosity.

"That just makes me even more interested. I'll definitely research it properly and see what it's really used for."

Yi Yunfei laughed heartily.

"If it's you researching it, little brother Oliver, you might actually discover something."

Mu Xue, however, flashed a strange look.

She knew Oliver far too well—

She strongly suspected that he already understood this resource quite clearly.

The three of them boarded the sightseeing vehicle again and began the return journey.

As they passed through the vast orchard filled with precious berry trees, Oliver suddenly asked:

"Brother Yi, does every berry tree planted by the League have Pokémon guarding it?"

"Not all of them," Yi Yunfei replied.

"Only extremely rare ones—like Enigma Berries or Salac Berries—are guarded individually. Most others are planted together in designated zones and managed uniformly by League staff."

Of course, the "ordinary" berries he referred to would still be top-tier treasures anywhere else.

"I see," Oliver nodded.

Then he asked casually, "Do those guarding Pokémon ever steal the berries they protect?"

Yi Yunfei answered with absolute certainty:

"Never. These Pokémon undergo strict training. They're also paid berries as wages. No one would risk losing a month's salary just to sneak a bite."

After speaking, he noticed Oliver hadn't responded.

Curious, he asked, "Why do you suddenly ask that?"

Oliver pointed calmly out the window.

"I just saw a Pokémon over there pick a berry and eat it."

Yi Yunfei's first reaction was disbelief.

Then something clicked.

He quickly turned his head.

On the grass nearby lay a round, grayish-blue Pokémon, clutching a berry and stuffing it into its mouth, eyes darting around with a distinctly sneaky expression.

The moment Yi Yunfei saw it, his expression changed drastically.

"Oh no—

Why did that thing escape again?!"
