Chapter 74 - Pikachu’s Magnetic Multiverse Journey! [74]

Gale-force winds howled, rain hammered down relentlessly, and huge droplets pounded the earth, forming countless muddy pools. Thunder roared in ceaseless anger, lightning flashing violently across the sky.

The dark silhouette of mountain ranges rose and fell in shadowy waves, the cries of Pokémon echoing anxiously from deep within the forest. Even the Pokémon world wasn't immune to nature's wrath—storms and sudden crises could disrupt even the calmest days.

Just moments ago, the sky had been clear and tranquil; now, a storm-triggered flood surged violently through the forest, forcing its Pokémon inhabitants to desperately seek new homes.

Amidst the chaos, a herd of Kangaskhan trudged heavily toward safer grounds, their massive bodies sinking into muddy terrain. A mother Kangaskhan, burdened with two younglings tucked carefully in her pouch, struggled through the mire, each step heavier than the last.

Ray Chu hovered nearby, calmly accompanying the migrating herd. Compared to the struggling Kangaskhan, his psychic abilities effortlessly deflected the harsh rain and violent winds. Encased in a shimmering bubble of psychic energy, he drifted smoothly alongside them.

From within the mother's pouch, a little Pichu watched Ray Chu with envy. Seeing its adoptive mother exhausted and gasping for breath, a quiet determination ignited within its tiny heart.

A deafening crash ripped through the air, a bolt of lightning slamming into a nearby cliff face, instantly shattering stone. An avalanche of mud and debris thundered down, hurtling toward the migrating group.

The mother Kangaskhan instinctively turned her back to the onslaught, shielding the two terrified children inside her pouch.

"Pika—chu!" At the critical moment, Ray Chu flashed forward, planting himself firmly before the trembling Kangaskhan family. Gathering immense energy between his paws, he unleashed a blazing beam of power, halting the cascading mudslide in its tracks.

"Pika, pika! (Run, now!)" Ray Chu shouted urgently to the Kangaskhan below.

Acknowledging him with a roar, the herd leader swiftly led the others through the danger zone. Only once they had safely passed did Ray Chu release his grip. The blocked torrent of mud instantly surged forward, burying the path they'd taken.

Ray Chu wiped imaginary sweat from his brow, sighing inwardly. Compared to nature's terrifying might, his power was still insufficient. Just holding back one mudslide had drained him more than he'd expected. He wondered idly when he'd finally be capable of shattering stars with a single punch.

After safely navigating the perilous forest, the exhausted Kangaskhan herd settled into caves beneath a mountain range. Dripping wet and weary, they slowly filed inside.

Sharing a cave with the mother Kangaskhan and her young, Ray Chu briefly surveyed the interior before boldly heading back into the storm. Moments later, he returned with a bundle of firewood. After drying it thoroughly with psychic energy, he swiftly ignited a warming fire.

The mother Kangaskhan and her two youngsters stared wide-eyed, murmuring astonishment. Aside from specialized Fire-types, few Pokémon could casually conjure flames outside of battle.

However, the simple-hearted Pokémon didn't dwell long enough to realize just how unusual their Pikachu companion truly was.

Warmth from the fire quickly dispelled the cave's chill and dried the damp walls. Soon, the mother Kangaskhan and her two little ones drifted into peaceful sleep, exhausted after their harrowing journey.

Ray Chu leaned against the cave wall, arms crossed, resting his eyes. A short while later, his eyes opened suddenly. Standing upright, he quietly slipped out into the rain.

Their encounter had been a chance one; knowing the Kangaskhan family was safe, Ray Chu felt it was time to leave.

Yet he hadn't gone far before a familiar cry sounded behind him—a tiny silhouette dashed forward, skidding to a halt directly in front of him.

"Pika?" Ray Chu gently rubbed the small Pichu's head, conveying kindly, I appreciate the send-off, little guy, but it's late. Go back and rest with your mom.

At the mention of the mother Kangaskhan, sorrow filled the little Pokémon's eyes, quickly replaced by a determined gleam. Gesturing vigorously, Pichu squeaked and chirped, urgently making its intentions known.

"The secret to becoming strong?" Ray Chu studied Pichu's earnest expression, then answered solemnly, "The first step to true strength is building a healthy body."

"Pichu...?" It tilted its head curiously, waiting eagerly for more wisdom.

"In short," Ray Chu explained seriously, "live regularly, exercise daily, avoid gaming too much, read plenty of novels, and above all, never become a lazy shut-in."

"Pichu! Pichu!" The little one bobbed its head eagerly.

Ray Chu patiently taught it a series of training moves—a routine adapted from Happosai's infamous "Dark Exercise" from the Ranma world. He'd filtered out the dark aspects, enriching it instead with his personal insights to unlock latent potential. He decided to call it "Vitality Exercises."

"Practice this routine every morning and evening, and you'll surpass most Pokémon your age," Ray Chu encouraged. To his delight, the tiny Pokémon proved exceptionally gifted, memorizing and performing each move flawlessly after just one demonstration.

Inspired by this natural talent, Ray Chu paused, then added thoughtfully, "A true expert should also remember two crucial secrets—'Laying low' and 'Acting.'"

"Laying low," he explained sagely, "means avoiding unnecessary risks. Challenging opponents beyond your league isn't bravery, just recklessness. Better to patiently grind until you're strong enough to overwhelm them effortlessly. But if hiding isn't possible, you move on to secret number two: acting."

"Acting," Ray Chu elaborated, "requires true talent. A skilled actor can convincingly go toe-to-toe with Legendary Pokémon, yet believably lose to beginner Trainers at will. The key is practice—blend acting into your daily life until it becomes second nature, seamless and natural."

"When a master perfectly balances both these secrets," Ray Chu finished dramatically, "even he might forget just how strong he truly is."

The little Pichu blinked, half-understanding, but committed every word fiercely to heart.

"I look forward to seeing the powerful Pokémon you'll become," Ray Chu smiled warmly, rubbing Pichu's head. He saw clearly into its heart, recognizing a familiar spark—the desire every Pokémon had when striking out alone to chase their dreams.

Pichu nodded vigorously, watching Ray Chu's silhouette gradually vanish into the distance. When Ray Chu disappeared completely, Pichu spun around and ran in the opposite direction—toward an uncertain yet hopeful future.

Half an hour later, having left behind the Kangaskhan family it loved so dearly, Pichu's brave façade finally cracked. Tears streamed freely down its cheeks, emotions overwhelming its tiny body.

As the storm cleared, a silvery moon shone down, bathing the little Pokémon in radiant moonlight. Suddenly, brilliant white light enveloped its trembling form. Within that glow, Pichu rapidly grew and changed, evolving into a confident electric mouse with a striking black-and-yellow coat.

Peering curiously into a puddle, the newly evolved Pikachu studied its reflection. Its soft fur, lightning-bolt tail, and bright eyes were identical to the Pikachu who had inspired its journey.

Determination shone fiercely in its gaze. Clenching its tiny paws, Pikachu swore silently to itself—I will become strong.

"Pika—chu!!"
