Max woke up face-down on cold pavement.
The scent of pine filled his lungs as he groaned and rolled onto his back, blinking up at a sky framed by towering trees. Sunlight filtered through the forest canopy, far too peaceful for how much his head hurt.
"Ah… my head hurts," Max muttered, pushing himself up.
He glanced around and froze.
A few feet away, two girls were slumped against each other, unconscious. One had short silver-gray hair, a sharp jawline, and a lean build—clearly human, but with features that reminded him unmistakably of Vaggie. She looked older, more mature, like someone who had seen far too much and survived it.
The other girl had long blonde hair, soft curves, and a warm expression even while unconscious. She reminded Max instantly of Charlie Morningstar—again human, but clearly inspired by her, and closer to their current age.
Max sighed in disbelief.
"Not the forms I expected either of you to take," he said quietly. "But we did just binge Hazbin Hotel. And honestly? I can't think of a better combo."
The girls stirred.
The one resembling Vaggie groaned first, rubbing her temple as she sat up.
"Well," she said dryly, "we were excited and kind of just… picked."
"Hana," Max said, smiling in relief.
The Charlie-lookalike blinked awake next, wobbling as she tried to stand. Max and Hana quickly moved to help her up.
"What did you two wish for?" Max asked as Luna leaned against him to steady herself.
Luna stretched experimentally, adjusting to her new body.
"Well… I kind of wasted a wish just to stay with you," she admitted. "Then I wished to be a daughter of Aphrodite. We both did."
Max raised an eyebrow.
"And my last wish?" Luna continued. "The powers of Kumoko."
She tilted her head, clearly feeling out the new abilities.
"Getting used to being seventeen again is… weird."
Hana snorted.
"My wishes were simpler. I wished to stay with Luna, and for all the abilities of Issei."
Max blinked. "But Issei doesn't exist here."
"Exactly," Hana said smugly. "No competition. And since I'm technically an angel now, I have way more magical potential. So… part dragon, part angel, part devil."
She took a step and nearly tripped.
Max caught her. "You forget that Vaggie only has one eye?"
Hana groaned. "Oh. Right."
"You two picked way more fitting options than I did," Max said. "I was greedy."
Luna crossed her arms. "What did you get?"
Max shrugged casually.
"Everything from Fate. Cole McGrath's powers. And all powers of Hell from DxD, Hazbin Hotel, and Helluva Boss."
Both girls stared at him.
Then, simultaneously, they rolled their eyes.
"You overdid it," Hana said flatly before pulling both of them into a hug.
Max laughed, hugging back. "Yeah… probably."
He looked between them, still adjusting to the sight of both Luna and Hana standing in front of him—separate, real, alive.
"I never imagined you both at the same time," he admitted. "So… what now?"
Hana smirked.
"We're still with you, dumbass."
She pointed at herself and Luna.
"We weren't alternate versions. We were two girls trapped in one body. Treat us the same."
Max blinked.
"Also," Hana added, "dating Luna was already weird enough. Can't be any worse than when she tried dating me."
"STOP TALKING," Luna shouted, tackling Hana to the ground.
Max laughed helplessly.
"Okay, we are definitely unpacking that later. But first—we need to get to camp and figure out which Percy Jackson book we landed in."
They started down the forest path toward Camp Half-Blood.
As they walked, Hana stretched her back and unfurled radiant angel wings, feathers gleaming in the sunlight. Luna grinned and let demonic horns curve from her head, a tail swaying behind her.
Max glanced down at himself.
"Great. You two look amazing, and I look like an edgy teenager."
Luna reached for his hand.
"Hey. You're fine. We love you."
She squeezed gently.
"You're the only one we both ever liked. You made us stable. And it feels incredible not needing all those meds."
She paused, noticing something on her wrist.
"What's this?"
Luna slipped off a delicate bracelet.
In an instant, her form shimmered—her human appearance fading as she transformed into her true Charlie Morningstar form, more mature, confident, and perfectly her age.
"Oh, thank god," Luna said in relief. "I hated being stuck in my seventeen-year-old body. So awkward. And honestly? I look way better like this."
Hana did the same, removing her bracelet and shifting smoothly into her true Vaggie form.
They both admired themselves for a moment.
Max blinked.
"…Okay, now I'm jealous."
Then reality set in.
"Wait," Max said. "Where do I go? I'm not related to any god. And even with Cole's powers, I refuse to be a son of Zeus."
Luna thought for a moment.
"Probably the Hermes cabin. Unless you talk to Mr. D and reveal everything."
She smirked.
"You're closer to a god than a demigod anyway."
"You're such a nerd," Hana said fondly, intertwining her fingers with Luna's.
"You bought me the books," Luna shot back. "And you remember everything I do. You're worse."
They bickered back and forth as they walked, voices overlapping, laughter echoing through the trees.
Max stayed quiet, smiling.
Different world.
Different bodies.
Same people.
And for the first time since the explosion, everything felt right again.
