Chapter 145: Warship Island
Canglong's message was: the thing ahead wasn't a ship—it was an island.
That left Wyper and Kamakiri momentarily stunned, a little disappointed.
But only for a blink.
"Even if it's an island, there might be people on it." They clung to that hopeful thought.
Soon, they entered the misty region.
The island shaped like a ship grew larger and larger.
A few minutes later—
"Whoa… this island looks amazing. It really does look like a ship."
Wyper stared wide-eyed at the island shaped like a warship, astonished.
"There's smoke on the island—someone must be there!"
Kamakiri shouted.
From the forest near the coast, thin trails of cooking smoke curled upward.
"Then we'll rest here for the day."
Raptorex rumbled.
He stood up, his hundred-meter-tall body rising like a mountain, the air itself trembling.
Wyper and Kamakiri instantly looked at him with pure admiration.
They had never seen Raptorex fight before, but just this presence alone was something they couldn't even compare to—they didn't even have one ten-thousandth of it.
Thud… thud… thud…
Raptorex strode toward the warship-shaped island, each step causing the ground to tremble slightly and echo with a deep sound. The forest beasts scattered in panic.
Wyper and Kamakiri came ashore.
Canglong glanced at them once, then slipped beneath the surface of the sea, vanishing—who knew what it was off to do.
The moment Raptorex's massive body touched land, the island's residents noticed. One by one, they looked up, terrified, staring at the mountain-like giant.
"Old woman, hurry… get into the mountains and hide!"
In the warship-shaped village, an old man well past fifty rushed back into his home, dragging his wife outside.
"But I just finished cooking—"
"Cook what? We're about to lose our lives!"
He Buckd at her, hauling her away.
"We're leaving too—son, hurry… grab some dry food and water."
"Right, right! And bring a knife."
People in the village scrambled to grab whatever they could and hurried toward the mountains deeper inland.
This wasn't the first time they'd gone through this. Now and then pirates would come to Warship Island, but once the villagers hid, the pirates couldn't find anyone and would leave.
After all, there was nothing worth looting here. Their food was whatever they grew themselves.
But this time, a giant that size had stepped onto Warship Island—every step made the ground shake. The pressure it brought was nothing like pirates of the past.
That was why they panicked so badly.
In under five minutes, the entire village was empty.
Thud… thud… thud…
Raptorex and the others walked into the village.
"Huh… why is no one here?"
Wyper looked around at the shut doors and silent houses in confusion.
Raptorex glanced over the area, then released a wave of advanced Observation Haki.
A faint smile tugged at his lips.
"All right, we'll rest here for the day. Go hunt something, and tell Old Cang to bring up some seafood."
With a friendly smile on his broad face, he rumbled the command.
"Okay."
Wyper and Kamakiri responded.
They didn't know Haki, so they had no idea why the village was empty—but they didn't think too much about it.
They headed into the forest.
Raptorex looked around, then walked back a short distance and sat down on the sandy beach just outside the treeline, gazing at the mist-draped sea.
Time passed slowly, and the sky darkened.
"Roar~"
A cry echoed from the ocean.
Boom!
The seawater suddenly surged upward like a waterfall crashing down, throwing up a spray of white foam.
Canglong surfaced, its massive body rising from the sea—clenching a several-hundred-meter-long Sea King in its jaws.
