By the moonlight, George arrived at the church.

Turning the corner, he saw his wife sitting alone on the steps in front of the church, looking depressed.

Just as George was about to step forward to apologize, the church door opened, and a figure walked out and sat down next to Mary.

Seeing this, George quickly hid in the small grove nearby.

After all, what George needed to apologize for was not something glorious. So he wanted to wait until his wife was alone before stepping forward.

"Oh, Pastor Jeff. I didn't expect anyone else to be in the church." Mary, sitting in front of the church, looked surprised after seeing who it was.

At this time, it was already completely dark. Ordinary people should be at home enjoying their leisure time.

"I came to check some information. You know, it's not easy to manage a church well..." Jeff, off work, had no airs of a pastor at all.

He looked at Mary and asked: "What about you? Why are you here too? And you look very depressed."

"Nothing, just some small problems." Mary, having her thoughts exposed, said, pretending to be strong.

Then, she took out a pack of cigarettes from her pocket.

"Want one?" Mary skillfully lit one for herself and handed the rest to Pastor Jeff.

"No, no, no~" Pastor Jeff waved his hand hurriedly: "As a Christian, I don't smoke, and you shouldn't either."

Although he said so, seeing Mary in a bad mood, Pastor Jeff didn't persuade her much.

Afterward, the two sat side by side in front of the church, one smoking silently, the other accompanying quietly.

Not far away, George, hiding behind a small tree fork, doubted life a little after seeing his wife smoking.

Married for so long, he thought he knew his wife well, but he never knew she smoked.

...

In front of the church, Pastor Jeff waited until Mary finished smoking a whole cigarette before asking: "Did you encounter any difficulties? Why isn't George accompanying you?"

"Don't mention him to me..." Mary shook her head, her fragile nerves touched: "I need a shoulder right now."

After speaking, regardless of whether Pastor Jeff agreed or not, she plunged into his arms, crying silently.

Under the moonlight, the actions of the two looked exceptionally "intimate."

"Damn it, I knew it~" In the small grove, George inexplicably felt a green hat on his head.

His wife had been increasingly cold to him recently because of church work. Connecting with the scene in front of him, George couldn't help but think too much.

At this moment, he really wanted to go out and loudly scold the adulterous couple.

But thinking of his matter with Brenda earlier, George felt he had no standing to accuse his wife.

Finally, he crawled out of the small grove and walked towards home.

On the other side, Pastor Jeff, with an extra person in his arms, held his arms stiffly, daring not to move.

After a long time, he asked carefully: "Did George do something wrong?"

Mary, having shed tears for a while, felt much better. After breaking away from Pastor Jeff's arms, she said: "You definitely can't imagine, George cheated on me. And Brenda, her child is so big, yet she is so shameless..."

Accompanied by complaints, Mary shook out everything she saw earlier.

Pastor Jeff on the side became more and more surprised as he listened and said: "Is there any misunderstanding between you? As far as I know, George doesn't seem like that kind of person."

His gentle temperament gave George a very good reputation among acquaintances.

"I saw it with my own eyes; there can be no mistake." Thinking of the scene she saw at Brenda's house before, Mary became sad again.

"No way, did you see them doing that?" Pastor Jeff extended two index fingers and touched them together.

"That, no." Mary recalled: "But I saw with my own eyes that they hugged each other."

"Seeing isn't necessarily believing." Pastor Jeff had confidence in George's character. To convince Mary, he gave an example: "For example, just now, we also 'hugged' each other. But we both know there is nothing between us."

"Is that so?" With an example in front of her, Mary recalled her husband's usual performance again and became uncertain.

"Exactly. Before figuring out the situation clearly, one shouldn't jump to conclusions." Pastor Jeff struck while the iron was hot: "How about this, I'll accompany you to confront George. If there's nothing between him and Brenda, that's best. If he really made a mistake, I will condemn him in the name of God for you."

Mary still had expectations for her husband; otherwise, she wouldn't be so sad.

Therefore, under Pastor Jeff's persuasion, she decided to give her husband a chance to explain.

At the Cooper house, Meemaw Connie had just arranged for Young Sheldon and Missy to go back to their rooms to rest when she saw George stumble into the house alone.

"Why did you come back alone? Didn't Mike say you went to find Mary?" Meemaw Connie said, about to step forward to support George.

Current George was covered in cold sweat, his face white as paper, looking very wrong.

"Mary, she..." Before finishing his sentence, George collapsed softly on the ground.

Under anxiety, his heart had problems again. Managing to walk back from the church was already his limit.

"Mike! Come help quickly~ George is dying." Seeing George fall in front of her, breathing faster and faster, the frightened Meemaw Connie hurriedly called for help towards the living room.

After all, as an elderly person, Meemaw Connie couldn't move the fallen George alone.

"The situation is very bad; must send him to the hospital..." Mike, rushing over upon hearing the noise, checked George's pupils and pulse and gave his judgment.

A series of stimulations finally made George's heart exceed its load.

Just as Mike was sending George out to the car, other members of the Cooper family, hearing the commotion, all gathered around. Even Georgie walked out of the garage.

Before long, with everyone's concerted efforts, George Sr. lay in the back of the pickup truck cushioned with a blanket.

"What happened? What's wrong with George?" As Mike prepared to start the car, Mary, accompanied by Pastor Jeff, arrived just in time.

Seeing her husband's terrible condition, Mary immediately stepped forward to take care of him.

"Thank God, Mary, you're back. Then you and Georgie escort George to the hospital together..." Meemaw Connie arranged.

Compared to Georgie, Mary was obviously more suitable to take care of George.

...

"Regarding your husband's condition, the risk of surgery is very high. So the hospital suggests you adopt drug treatment first, observe the situation, and then decide..."

"Of course, which treatment plan to choose ultimately depends on your own wishes."

"Also, regardless of the treatment plan, the patient needs to maintain a good mindset and cannot be stimulated anymore..."

In the ward, the doctor introduced the situation to Mary.

George, hanging on an IV on the bed next to her, was out of danger after emergency treatment but hadn't woken up yet.

"Okay, doctor. We will pay attention to follow-up treatment..." Mary was in no mood to pursue her husband's "cheating"; she only hoped her husband could get better now.

In the corridor outside, Georgie, sitting with Mike, was scared by his father's previous symptoms.

Growing up under his parents' wings, he suddenly realized the fragility of life.

"Mike, can you help me? I don't want to become a burden to this family..." At this moment, Georgie seemed to have truly grown up and had a man's responsibility.

Thinking about it, if George Sr. really fell, who else could this family rely on?

"Good that you figured it out. my previous proposal is still valid. I can help you open a small repair shop..." Taking this opportunity, Mike guided Georgie onto the right path.

On the other side, George Sr., in a coma, finally woke up.

Looking at his worried wife by the bedside, he confessed guiltily: "Mary, I admit I almost made a big mistake in a moment of heat, but I can guarantee you, I absolutely did nothing to betray you..."

"Don't say anymore, George. I believe you~" Mary held her husband's hand and said: "The most important thing now is for you to get better. We need you."

In the face of life and death, the old couple seemed to have untied all the knots in their hearts.
