Chapter 6 - Chapter 6: Important Stuff

Once they got back to the base Ellen cleared the coffee table and placed a map of Hispaniaca on it and placed 4 teacups on each corner to keep it from rolling back up. She then pointed at Triste, a decently large island that looks like the body of a frog to the left of another spot that looks like a boot, this boot being close to another landmass that was off the map.

"This is where we are, Triste. The president is Mike Canary, the head of the government being Man Mar Cross. Triste is a Totalitarian Communist state with the current government assuming power by force back in 1956. It has 16 provinces and one special municipality known as the La Isla de Juventud. I don't feel like getting too much into the economics, I don't feel like getting into the resources- Ooh cobalt! Or the industry types... Let's see, uh, it's nothing crazy but the people of Triste originate from Espani all the way in Gresiala and its largest religion is the Romana church. Blah blah more history stuff, and now we get to the bad part. The government continues to commit a variety of serious abuses to their citizens human rights and denies them the right to change their government. they incarcerate people for peaceful political beliefs and activities, the government places severe limitations of speech, freedom of assembly is not a right, they don't tolerate dissent, and worker rights are largely denied.

"... Hirune, you grew up in these conditions?" Ellen asked as she finished.

"Yeah, but when I was younger it didn't seem as bad as it seems now. Maybe I was too childish to see the problems around me, in fact, I only learnt about what was happening here when I was 10. Once I could finally see past the whimsy that blinded me."

"So, it was only 6 years ago that you found out. That's really not that long ago."

"Yeah, ever since I found out about all of those issues, I wanted to slap some sense into those government jerks you know? Ask them what they think justice is, what is truth, what makes them so wise that they can restrict us so much. Truly humble them for once, but sadly I've never gotten the chance to properly do so, simply because if I'm going to do that to any government official, I want it to be the head of it."

"Well luckily for you they've given us a chance to persecute them, after all even the most powerful of men have to face judgement at some point in their life. Whether they're dead or alive," Tundra said as he looked up from a little ball of ice he was fidgeting with.

"Listen, I get where y'all are coming from but all of that is easier said than done," Clint stated.

"Can we get back on task? I said all of this to give everyone a rough overview of what type of people we're dealing with here. If they're government assassin as Hirune told us on our way here we can expect them to blend in well wherever we go. So, Tundra, how do you recognize assassins?"

"Honestly... I'm unsure myself. I just look at them, and I can kind of tell. It might be because I was surrounded by them at some point so I can just recognize them, but who knows."

"How old are you again?"

"Like 17, why?"

"Alright I'm putting you into Hirune's class one way or another. And before you ask, I can pull some strings, don't worry."

Hirune raised an eyebrow, unsure as to how she should feel about the fact that the guy who threatened to kill her was going to be in her class, and still unsure as to what Tundra was considering what Namulenza told her about demons in disguise. As far as she could tell, Tundra was perfectly human, not a shred of demon blood in him, but he did act like one most of the time. But yet again, he did seem a bit upset after he killed the assassin, and she was pretty sure she saw him make a small little ice grave on the sand as they left.

"Well, it's decided, Hirune, you're now going to be in the same class as Tundra for your own safety. Kala will also be there so you should be extra safe," Ellen exclaimed.

She blinked a couple of times before snapping out of it, "Oh, uh, yeah okay, that's cool."

"You'll stay with us from now on so tomorrow Tundra's going to go with you to your home so you can gather your stuff and bring it. As for now, I'm pretty sure we have some books on Namulenza down in the library, the stairs that go down, so if you want you can read up on her."

As everyone started doing their own thing Hirune went down the stairs. It was spiral stairs; the walls being made of many flat and smooth stones that seemed like they could be pressed down, which is precisely what Hirune started doing, trying to press down the stones in hopes to find a hidden room.

which about halfway down the sharp gravely stairs, she found one as she suddenly fell into the wall as she was putting all of her weight into each press because she didn't believe she'd truly find one.

As she looked up, she found a long corridor of now light grey perfectly lined up bricks leading to a circular room with a column going up and doing, stretching as far in those two directions as the room seemed to go, which was practically infinite. The walls in the room covered in the writing of a language unknown to Hirune, yet some words looked like words she already knew which she was able to assume, meant the words she deciphered from those.

'Oh, you've found the True Alexandria~! I'm amused, out of all places I didn't expect this one to hold it. But at the same time this is considered part of Vereta's True Vail of Elegance, so it makes sense,' Namulenza said with true whimsy in her voice.

Hirune furrowed her eyebrows and bit her lip while letting out a dry giggle, "Okay~! Can we simplify?"

'The True Alexandria is just a really, really, large library in which the walls are the books. As for Vereta's True Vail of Elegance, it's just a bunch of tiny spots spread all throughout the world in which a bunch of things that are important such as the True Alexandria are located. And before you ask how I know all of this: Don't even worry about it!'

"Well do you know anything about this library?"

"'Row 1A, I have the ability to detect any text with my name in it even if I'm in someone else's head.'
