No matter how elegant the gown I was wearing was I couldn't help but find the whole party boring and exhausting. I could see Alexa having the time of her life chatting with a not so bad looking guy by one of the dinner tables.
"Classic Alexa" I thought
Dad walked with my arm hooked in his as we exchanged greetings with almost everyone we met consisting of mostly people I had never seen in my life
"Mr.Ashton ....." somebody shouted from behind
My eyes suddenly met the face of a very short man as we both slowly turned, the man seemed to be somewhere around his 60s or something and his shiny bald head and untrimmed beard which was a mixture of black and grey hair just made it clear that he was really old.
"Ahhhh Mr. Clerk, wasn't really expecting you" Dad said slowly shaking his hand.
"Ah well didn't expect to be here myself..." He said nodding his head
"Hope your family is doing well "dad asked
"Yes gladly" the man responded
"Amd this must be your goddess of a daughter I have heard so much about " he said turning to me with an extended hand , I took a quick look at dad to check whether he approved of me shaking his hand and a swift side blink confirmed his approval.
I slowly stretched my hand forward to shake his, at that moment I wasso worried for my poor arm as this bald short guy shaked my hand with both hands and somehow pulled me down to her height which was half of mine.
After about two seconds of trying to pull ,yself free I finally stood to my normal height and stared at Dad with pleading eyes
"Well I guess we have to be on our way ,we still have lots of people to meet .." Dad said as calm as ever.
"Sure sure go ahead .." the old man said stepping aside for us to pass . Out of exhaustion I just couldn't help but give a loud sigh as we walked and said "Hi" to almost every person we met on the way
"Why don't you just go ahead and enjoy the party with your friends , it's your birthday after all"
"Really are you sure" I said trying to hide my relief
"Yes don't worry I will attend to the rest of the guests and am sure your mom will be arriving anytime soon"
"Huh I thought she wasn't going to be able to take time off from her busy schedule.."I said slowly trying to hide my excitement
"I just got a call earlier and she told me she wouldn't miss your birthday for the world ,actually she is almost here maybe just a few minutes more.." He said loo,ING down at his wrist watch
"Just make sure you stay in sight "he added
"Sure, thanks dad " I hugged him and walked towards where I last saw Alexa.
As I thought Alexa was still sitting by the table charmingly chatting with the same guy I saw from earlier. I knew I was supposed to know the guys name since we were introduced to eachother minutes ago but alli could remember was the boring small talk we had during the introduction and of course his blue eyes which were quite mesmerising actually. Alexa seemed to be enjoying their conversation a lot because her giggles were beginning to sound more than normal. From the look on my face I knew guests passing by would probably think I was having a fight with so,eone or something but then I couldn't help it it was my birthday afterall and she seemed to be having so much of a good time without me.
"Huh and she is supposed to be my best friend , I just hope this doesn't go down like her whole crush on James drama"
Without wanting to ruin her new found puppylove romance I turned towards one of the massive doors that led to the flower maze garden which was outside the hall ,a tually it surrounded it in a decorative kind of way.
Even without glowing lights which fell on the flowers now and then and the flower paths that were decorated with different colours of garden lanterns which made the flowers seem more elegant in the dark. The garden looked like a beautiful magical forest from a fairy tale . The garden has always been my favourite place especially in the night when the cold breeze was mixed with a smell of roses or should I say the scent of the roses became the breeze.
In the middle of the maze stood the shimmering glass house which looked quite magnificent on the outside and even more on the inside. On the inside of the glass house stood a tea parlour that was evenly decorated with flowers and ivy twins that hung around it like curtains. The whole place looked like a magazine I ture come to life with a large fountain, a fish pond filled with different species of fish and other marine animals and of course lots of flowers. I let myself relax and breath in the calm atmosphere as I sat on one of the stone benches by the pond. I just couldn't believe how much the fishes in the pond have increased in size
"Guess I haven't been here longer than I thought "
I lazily picked up my phone as it rang with the sound of my favourite piano melody by Beethoven, but this time I was just too passed at whoever was distracting me to care
"Sure dad I will be right there"
I promptly got off the bench and again watched my feet and raised my gown a bit to prevent any unwanted tripping accidents. I am pretty sure nobody would appreciate ma red swell on my face especially when I was the face of the night. Dad just informed me that mom just arrived and couldn't wait to see me.
"Well that was expected especially after being away for that long"
I don't know but I wasn't really that excited about seeing her that much, I guess I had just gotten really used to not having her around. But either way I still miss her and she always made sure to call me atleast two times in the day which is kinna boring when there is not much I could tell her on the phone and the fact that one of us always has to bring up something to talk about after a few minutes. A text from Alexa diverted my attention from the rosesnimwas running my hands over as I slowly walked back to the hall.
"Where are you.."
"Am in the garden am on my way to the hall.."I texted back
"Well hurry your parents are seriously looking for you and I already feel like a bad friend for yelling them I have no idea where you are for more than three times , plus am seated here with them and your mom's fave just makes metoo nervous to even bring out a word.."
In reply I just sent her a dozen laughing emoji with a "Well just see who noticed they were not being good friends after all"
"Whatever ,just hurry and get your butt here"
Suddenly I upped into so,etching or someone or rather that someone bummped into me. I frantically tried to catch myself from falling but the gown was too big and a bit tall but thank goodness that lessened the pain as I fell on my butt and balanced with a hand on each side.
This was exactly what I was afraid of but atleast my face was fine. I looked up to see a guy standing o er me.
