Whoever he was I could tell he was really good looking even in the dark. He had the most unusual hair colour silver white which was tied in the middle as the rest fell in shimmering cascades up to his shoulder and he had the most prettiest grey pupils in the middle of his predator looking eyes and even though I was sitting on the ground I could tell even if I rose he would still be much taller than me.
"Am sorry, are you okay..."He said with a straight face and I don't know why his voice kept me guessing about how an angel would have sounded if I ever met one
. He extended his hand but for some reason I just stood up and didn't even bother to look at it
"Yeah ,you should be sorry what if I had fallen o my face how on earth would sorry fix that.." I gave a sigh and then tried to look around for my phone which I was sure had dropped somewhere around as I fell.
"Well am sure if you were paying attention to the ovement of your feet that should have been a ery avoidable accident.."
Why was his voice so calm and firm but still soft at the same time
"Huh...." I said picking up my phone which had dropped near one of the garden lanterns, ther was a crack on the screen but it was still working , well that wasn't a problem I could always get a new one whenever I wanted . Plus I still have dozens stored in one of my wardrobes which came as birthday presents from last year and I was sure to her some this year as well . I quickly stood to give him a piece of my mind but all I saw was his back as he climbed the short stairs from the garden to the hall leaving behind a scent I couldn't really recognise but then it was so good even the flowers barely stood a chance.
"Well there is my pretty daughter" mom stood up and extended her arms as I approached their table . I simply drank in her scent as she engulfed me in a tight hug. Now this was the second time I had feared for my life that evening, first the bald guy and now this tight hug which was slowly taking away all my oxygen. But Compared to the first one this was so much better and I just had no idea how much I had missed mom's hugs until now. She pulled away and then sized me up with glowing eyes .
"The gown looks ore gorgeous on you than I imagined, Lakosh really outdid himself this time . He sent me a photo of it and asked for my opinion..."
"Really he did..."Dad said in a surprised tone
"Yes , he did and I could see he took my opinions well" she said turning me around and then back to face her .
"Hmmm thanks...." I said with a smile
"You look gorgeous too mom, even though next time I would appreciate it if you remembered it was my birthday and not yours.." I said then both of them laughed
"Oh and before I forget.."mom crossed the path between where we where stood and the table and picked up a package placed on one of the chairs.
"Herr you go Happy birthday dear.."she said as she handed me the glittering paper bag
"Thanks, but I hope you don't mind I will just open this later after the party"
"Sure of course , but I want you to open this right here " she said handing me another bag but much smaller this time
"Oookay .."I slowly rea he'd in the bag and came out with a bunch of cards , I looked closely and saw that they were exclusive trip tickets to Hawaii, Korea, Paris and all the places I had always wanted to visit and each country in a pair
"Wow thanks mom.." I said with obvious excitement ,finally this meant that I had the freedom to travel and do things on my own whenever I wanted. I guess this was a way of them telling me that they were going to stop being paranoid parents or atleast that is how I saw it
"But why two will you be coming with me.." I asked
"Well the other one is for Alexa and I figured you could both go since I scheduled the trips for your next school break "
"Oh okay.."I said it wasn't even Alexas birthday and she was sharing my gift lucky her
"But I might be able to make it with you guys on a fee trips only my schedule is open " she continued
"Well that would be nice.."
"I would have loved to go on these trips with you but.."
"Yeah I know mom and I totally understanding said cutting her off
I have always hated it when she kind of blamed everything on her work and busy schedule she always said it as if she had no choice but to go with it . But on the other hand that wasn't how I saw it , it was as if she was trying to runfrom something or someone and I had always thought that something was me for some reason. But yet still I knew she loved me and I the same.
"So.."mom said clapping softly
"The night has been far spent and you still haven't had your introduction yet, how about we get on with it"
"Yes your mom is right, it is about time "dad said as he took a look at the time
Walking up to the stage I could sense everyone's gaze on me . Not that it wasn't expected but blinking wouldn't have blocked their views or anything of that sort would it. They all just stared at me like those creepy birds who always made strange noises at night.
Anyway I just gave them my best runway walk and moved elegantly up the stage as dad invited me to join him up there . I had changed my outfit to a much comfortable one so taking steps was less stressful. The whole place urst into a series of applause as I stood beside dad and he officially announced my new status as heiress of the entire Ashton empire.
Everyone seemed to be happy about the announcement especially mom who enclosed me in another bear hug. Atleast everybody but one ,a guy who sat at one of the tables cross legged holding ,holding a glass of wine in his hand and busily watching his phone which was in the other . And I recognised the person right away cuz I was sure I could never forget that hair and that face 'the guy from the garden' .
