Chapter 5 – The First Mission
A low murmur filled the interior of the Adventurers' Guild. Newly posted quests lined the wooden boards, parchment after parchment detailing danger, reward, and risk. Warriors, mages, and mercenaries passed by, their eyes sharp with ambition.
Three young adventurers stood side by side, carefully scanning the listings.
"This will be our first mission," Kurogane Arin said calmly.Though his power far exceeded that of an average adventurer, he did not underestimate this world. He knew well—every journey began with a single step.
Elina Frostveil, clad in silver armor, stepped closer to the board. The faint blue crystal embedded in her chestplate pulsed softly as she read aloud.
"Bandits on the northern road… several missing merchants… armed resistance expected."She turned slightly. "This won't be easy."
Leon Valen let out a quiet grin."Which is exactly why it's a good choice."
For a moment, silence hung between them. Then, without hesitation, all three nodded.
"We'll take it," Arin said, tearing the bandit-hunting request from the board.
The northern road was thick with forest, shadows stretching unnaturally between the trees. The silence was wrong—too heavy, too deliberate. No birds. No wind.
Arin felt it instantly. The subtle shift in the air.
"We're being watched," he said quietly."They're coming."
Bandits burst from the undergrowth—swords drawn, bows raised—closing in from all sides. For an ordinary party, it would have been a death sentence.
But they were not ordinary.
Elina stepped forward without hesitation, her shield catching the first wave of attacks with a thunderous clang. Leon moved like lightning, striking from the side, disarming and knocking enemies down before they could react.
Arin simply raised his hand.
The air tightened.
A single motion.A single shift of elements.
Weapons flew from the bandits' hands as if torn away by an unseen force. Knees hit the ground. Panic spread faster than the fight itself.
They never stood a chance.
Arin exhaled slowly."This is only the beginning," he said.
The mission was complete.
But the story didn't end there.
Word spread quickly through the guild.
Three new adventurers had appeared…and on their very first day, they had already begun to change the rules.
