Caleb Bishop came to his senses and gave Jeanette Kensington a reassuring glance. "Sorry, I didn't sleep well last night. My head's a little fuzzy."
Of course, Jeanette Kensington didn't believe his excuse, and anger surged within her.
Caleb Bishop shifted his gaze to Naomi Kenway, his expression complicated. "Nao... mi, whatever happened is in the past. You have to move on. I don't want you to keep being difficult with Jan because of me. She's your older sister, after all. Since we're destined to be family, can't we just let go of our biases and try to get along?"
"Do you really think you're some kind of Delilah?" Naomi Kenway laughed. "Who do you think you are, flattering yourself like that? I've been rich and spoiled since I was a child. When would I have ever been involved with a poor boy like you?"
Caleb Bishop stiffened and stared intently at Naomi Kenway, his face growing pale.
