Nathaniel Lynch considered himself a strict father, but the current scene filled him with a pang of guilt. "Nathan, what are you doing here? Didn't I tell you to go do your homework?"
Nathan Lynch gazed at him quietly, his tone flat and emotionless, as if he were discussing what day of the week it was. "You were arguing. Are you getting divorced again?"
Nathaniel Lynch's brow furrowed. "What nonsense are you talking about? This isn't something a child your age should be meddling in. Your only job right now is to focus on your studies."
"But your arguing was so loud I could hear it all the way downstairs. I can't focus on my work."
Nathaniel Lynch's frown deepened slightly, a sour feeling twisting in his gut. But the next moment, Nathan asked, "I've been doing all my homework every day. When will you reward me with a visit to see Mom?"
Nathaniel Lynch said coldly, "Isn't your mother right in that room? When have I ever stopped you?"
