At three in the afternoon, the sun had yet to set. In a spot sheltered from the wind on the side of the road, just outside the alley, a group of old ladies were chatting and laughing, basking in the warmth as they did their needlework.
The jeep that had been parked on the side for the past two days was gone. Shen Weimin glanced in its usual spot, called out a greeting to the old ladies, and steered his bicycle into the alley.
Once inside the alley, he rushed to his courtyard gate and pushed it open, only to find the gatehouse empty. Neither Uncle Gu nor Uncle Xue was around.
'Needless to say, Mr. Lian and the others must have all gone out.' Shen Weimin hadn't even made it past the spirit screen before he started yelling, "Honey! Honey! Huge news!"
'If Changqing isn't home, then there's nothing for it. But if she is, she'll definitely yell back as soon as she hears me shouting about huge news!'
