Although the police officers at the station had basically figured out that the supposedly stolen bracelet was just a fake case deliberately created by Aurora Sterling, with the sole purpose of bringing Hector Vaughn and his sister Sylvia to the police station. They didn't understand why Aurora had taken such a roundabout approach instead of reporting directly to the police.
But none of that mattered now. According to the investigation by officers at the scene, although the bracelet was indeed found in Hector's pocket, there were many people present at the time, and no one saw Hector reach out to steal it, nor did anyone see how Aurora might have framed him.
Besides a seemingly normal toast with no hint of impropriety or physical contact, the two had barely been near each other. So, the whole incident could only be explained as a misunderstanding, because there was simply no way to explain it.
