She opened her eyes. The walls were a clean white, and an IV bag, still a third full, hung nearby. She lifted her left hand, the one with the needle.
An IV needle was inserted into her left hand.
'What happened to me?' She remembered her stomach suddenly hurting last night, and then she'd fallen asleep in Adam Sinclair's car.
She blinked, lifting her other hand to touch her lower abdomen.
But as soon as her hand moved, she felt it touch someone's face.
She tilted her head up slightly and saw Yuri Sinclair slumped beside her, fast asleep.
Just as she pulled her hand back, he sat up.
Their eyes met. In that instant, Ashley Bowen felt incredibly awkward, at a complete loss for words.
"Why didn't you tell me you were pregnant?"
After a long silence, the stern, cold man finally spoke.
Ashley Bowen's brow furrowed. "I was pregnant?"
Remembering the sudden stomach pain from yesterday, she struggled to sit up. "The baby?"
"Our baby... is gone."
