Leon focused his mind, and his senses shifted to one of the frost birds he had left in the forest earlier. The bird's sharp eyes scanned the surroundings, and Leon's consciousness saw through its gaze. The forest came into view, the trees swaying gently in the breeze.
With his mind linked to the bird, Leon could see the forest, the trees, and the creatures that lived among them. He scanned the area, checking for any signs of danger or potential threats. The bird's keen senses allowed him to perceive his surroundings in great detail, and Leon's awareness expanded as he took in the sights and sounds of the forest.
Through the bird's eyes, Leon could see for miles, his gaze soaring over the treetops as the bird took to the skies. He felt a sense of freedom and exhilaration as he flew over the forest, his senses heightened as he took in the beauty of nature.
As Leon switched places with the bird, he felt a brief moment of disorientation. When his vision cleared, he found himself perched on a branch of a nearby tree, his eyes level with the rustling leaves. The bird's body had taken his place in the air, flying away with a soft cry.
From his new vantage point, Leon watched the pack of wolves below, their movements fluid and silent as they padded through the underbrush. He settled in, his eyes fixed on the wolves, and observed their behavior with interest. The tree branch creaked softly beneath him, the leaves rustling in the gentle breeze. Leon's gaze remained steady, his curiosity about the wolves and their place in the forest ecosystem burning bright.
The wolves' behavior was certainly intriguing. They seemed to be following a deliberate pattern, their movements precise and calculated as they paced back and forth. Leon's eyes narrowed as he watched, his mind working to understand the significance of their actions.
As he observed, Leon noticed that the wolves' pacing seemed to be centered around a specific location. They would move forward, then backward, always keeping a certain area within their orbit. It was as if they were guarding something, protecting it from potential threats.
Leon's curiosity was piqued. What could be hidden in this spot that the wolves were so determined to defend? He leaned forward, his eyes scanning the area, trying to catch a glimpse of what might be worth protecting.
Soon enough, he spotted two Humanoid figures, from the way they dressed they were guards, but what shocked Leon was their undeniable trait, this trait stood out, it was fox ears and that only belonged to a specific race. They were not humans. Beastfolks.
'What were they doing here ?, I thought they were far from the human continent'. It was no secret that each race occupied a continent, this was why he was shocked about this sudden discovery of his, while he only wandered Beastglade in the middle of the night out of curiosity, this got him even more curious.
"Let's check it out then" He muttered .
Moving from tree to tree silently like a trained assassin was no joke, he approached silently, if anyone witnessed this sight of a seven year old doing this they will probably collapse due to the shock.
As he neared the location his eyes widened, he could now see the guards well, and they had cat ears, holding sharpened spears and on duty. He could see something behind them.
"Interesting" He said inwardly.
***
Behind the Guards was an invincible gate, this gate separated them from the outside world and generated random illusions that prevented anyone from taking notice to it.
Naturally, this gate led to their home where several beastfolks live in peace.
Lark, the guard on the right, yawned, stretching his arms. "Ugh, I'm getting sleepy."
Hugo, the guard on the left, shot him a disapproving look. "You're always sleepy, Lark. You've still got eight hours to go before your shift ends. Can't you just stay alert for once?"
Lark shrugged, a hint of defensiveness creeping into his voice. "Hey, sleeping is important for brain function. I'm just taking care of my mental health."
"Besides, I need my eight hours sleep to be in shape, it's not like there's any other reason why I'm one of the strongest in our tribe currently".
Hugo snorted. "Save it, Lark. You're one of the strongest in our tribe, but it's not just about brute strength. We can't let our guard down. It's the least we can do for Lord nine tails".
"Quit it already Hugo, it's not like anyone can reach here, Lord nine tails already disconnected this place from the outside world, so we're basically out of Novaria, no one can reach us here ".
"Still we have to do our job Lark, it's already some years since Lord nine tails rescued our tribe from those human scum" Hugo said, his voice dripping with Seriousness and Hate.
"R Right" Lark turned to Hugo.
Humans were known to capture stray beastmen and sell them as slaves to their nobles, most nobles treated them like playthings, both male and female.
Although they were rescued by Lord nine tails they still despise the humans, especially Hugo, why wouldn't he ? His parents were murdered by these humans.
As they were having their chat, or rather, bickering their cat ears stood up, picking some strange steps, so did their nose, picking up a scent.
There was no doubt about it, these steps, the scent, it was a human.
Their eyes locked, and a single word escaped their lips: "Impossible."
