Chapter 1 - Chapter 1: All Fleeting

The marbles on the kitchen wall reflected the light of the flickering candle substituting itself for the sun that has yet to peek through the windows. The sky is starting to show patches of paleness across it's dark complexion, every soul in the mansion yet however lucidly dreams for a moment and gasp the air through their nostrils to alarm the imaginary trespasser of their presence. In this darkness every scavenger has become lethargic to toils of life and every insect soothes itself to sleep with the last drop of dew across the grassy terrains.

The kitchen had one occupant, a person who blended into the empty room proclaiming himself as the sole chef that exists in the world, he is preparing a delectable breakfast for the one person whom he hold dearer than no one else....A breakfast made out of poached eggs and brown bread served alongside with two cups of milk coffee; now the only thing left is some seasoning. He carefully scrubbed the surface of a white rock with a knife and collected generous amount of grain like particles on a golden cup. Salt is an extremely rare commodity even for a Kingdom like Anglelands that exercises its power all over the world through its massive navy, in spite of that powerful nobles like the Mayfly Family can afford to store such necessity of life in their warehouses as much as they want of which majority is used for a preservatory of foods.

The preparations were all complete and the only thing left was to clean the place and carry the breakfast to the dinning hall. Even though the Mayflies have thousands of butlers and maids at their disposal imposing chef Krodh likes to gets personal with objects he tends to see as outlets of his creativity. Within half an hour he finished cleaning all the utensils and wiped the floor clean. If the six years of lifestyle with the Mayflies taught him anything, it would be to maintain the cleanliness and purity of oneself and his/her tools. Krodh saw this physical activity as a solid morning exercise....... The full-sleeve white shirt has black spots all over it and trousers appear to have wear and tear in the knee section, he might have to ask for replacements.

The hallway had sights of life, a new day has began and with it came the fixed routine every lowlife has to abide by. Krodh retired from his self-designated post of chef and carried the food on dining cart to the dining room. Most of the butlers and maids had yet to arrive and it worked for Krodh's convenience as he gets to present the dish exactly like he wished. The dining room was big enough to fit six Woolly Mammoth found in the northern most part of the Denalagu Peninsula, although it appears minuscule compared to the dining hall of the main house used only on major occasions. Krodh started to rearrange the chair and table, the architect imagined the scene he had seen in the opera during the end of the previous month and re-assembled to duplicate the portrait the floats in his brain. The grand chair in the middle of the table followed by three chairs each side, one for him and the rest for the subordinates of her ladyship, each hierarchy determined by the importance of the vassal. All the plates were arranged with spoon, fork and knife with two candle stands at the borders of the table; finally Krodh placed a structure that symbolizes the wing of an angel made entirely from sugar. Originally he intended to make an entire statue of an angel throughout the entire night however the endeavour ended up in a lethal failure. There might be questions enquiring him about the metaphor behind the odd structure but he is confident in his ability to come up with something clever on spot.

It took him 30 minutes but the job is done. Each of this efforts is only done to achieve her Ladyship's delight for she is a person who has great taste in and for searching thematic, philosophical and religious clues in her daily hustle and Krodh is aware of her picky nature however his own knowledge of this literary matter only dwells in the surface level.

There was a knock in the door; Krodh opened it immediately.

It was an old man wearing a black cloak over a white under garment with sleeves so tight that it appears to be a part of his skin, the stranded signs of white atop were held together with a golden chain and so were the cotton trousers cultivated in the far western corners of the continent. The extravagant door was big yet falls short in front of his impressive girth.

The man bowed before Krodh and then said, "Thanks for your hard work young master Krodh"

"I am heading to the bath house Malvolio", Krodh said as he headed for the door. He paused at the exit and looked back.

"Say...Did the fine lady has awoken?"

"Yes, she is currently preparing herself and will be arriving within 15 minutes" Said Malvolio as he inspected his pocket watch entirely made out of small diamonds.

"Ok I will return back as soon as possible."
