At the entrance of the Hidden Sand Village, the cheers didn't just erupt; they exploded like a long-dormant volcano, the sound waves nearly vibrating the massive rock-built dome that sheltered the city. This was the "Acoustic Peak" of a nation reborn. The villagers, who had endured the cold latency of the defeat at Kikyō Mountain and the paralyzing panic of the Hidden Mist's sneak attack, channeled every ounce of their suppressed fear and flickering hope into the most fervent shouts of the era.
"Lord Sayo!" "Long live the Puppet Brigade!" "Sunagakure! Certain Victory!"
Flowers and sand-colored ribbons, the identity markers of the Land of Wind rained down upon the advancing steel formation. Thousands of citizens crowded the sides of the road, standing on their tiptoes to get a clearer look at the young man standing atop the silver-gray giant. They looked at the puppeteers who followed him, units that were scarred and weary but stood with their heads held high. Tears mixed with smiles streamed down weather-beaten faces. Sunagakure didn't just need a victory; it needed a total "System Validation" to restore its backbone.
Sayo stood atop the Mirage v.2.0, his posture ramrod-straight. His expression remained a mask of analytical calm, but his slightly accelerated heart rate, tempered by the constant flow of Natural Energy revealed the internal turmoil. Even having lived two lives, he had never processed a scene of this magnitude. He controlled the Mirage with precision, following the Kazekage's Direct Anbu as they cleared a path through the sea of people, finally coming to a halt before the high platform where the village's high-ranking officials were gathered.
Sayo leaped down lightly from the machine's shoulder, the Mag-Lev field humming with a soft, standby frequency. Under the gaze of those symbolizing Sunagakure's highest authority, he knelt on one knee and bowed his head. His voice was clear, steady, and cut through the surrounding clamor with the frequency of a command.
"Lord Fourth Kazekage, esteemed Elders. Special Jonin and Puppeteer Sayo, reporting mission status. I was ordered to lead the Second Division to East Sea Bay to intercept the Hidden Mist invasion. The mission is complete. We have routed the enemy's main landing force, deleted three members of the Seven Ninja Swordsmen of the Mist, and forced a total retreat. I lead my unit back to report for duty!"
The already fervent cheers reached a new, deafening peak. Killing three members of the Seven Ninja Swordsmen, elite Units that were the pride of the Mist was more than a victory. It was an update to Suna's threat level. This was arguably the most devastating blow dealt to any high-level combat group below the "Kage" tier in the history of the current war.
Fourth Kazekage Rasa stood at the very front of the platform. A slight, uncharacteristic flush colored his stern face. After the critical error of Kikyō Mountain, the pressure he endured had been immense, and this young man was the timely patch the village needed. Rasa took a deep breath and raised his hands.
An invisible magnetic pressure spread with his movement, a command for silence. The shouting subsided into a heavy, expectant hush.
Rasa's gaze swept over the kneeling Sayo, then over the iron-willed Puppet Squad, and finally over the villagers. His voice, filled with unrestrained power and a resonant, golden authority, echoed across the plaza.
"Today, Sunagakure welcomes the brightest light after the darkness! The Hidden Mist attempted to exploit our gap in defenses, invading our territory and threatening our kin. But they forgot one thing: the desert does not forgive, and the Sand never yields!"
He pointed sharply at Sayo. "Special Jonin Sayo accepted a 'High-Priority' mission in a time of crisis. He led our brave Puppet Squad to the East Sea, fighting against overwhelming odds with a strategy the enemy could not calculate. He has raised the prestige of our village and proven that our legacy is alive and evolving!"
Rasa's voice rose, as if announcing a final decree. "Such achievements will be etched into our permanent history. Such talent is the fortune of the Sand! According to the Village Charter and based on verified combat data, I hereby formally announce Promotion!"
He looked directly into Sayo's dark eyes. "Special Jonin Sayo is hereby promoted to the rank of Jonin!"
The plaza erupted in a roar that felt like the earth itself was shouting. Jonin. At thirteen.
Information from Sayo's previous life as Logan flashed through his mind. Last year, Kakashi Hatake of Konoha had been promoted to Jonin at the age of twelve, a promotion that had shocked the Ninja World. And now, Sayo had matched that pace. This wasn't merely a title; it signified that Sunagakure had forged its own "God-Tier Anomaly", one capable of altering the global balance of power.
Elder Chiyo stepped forward, her eyes reflecting relief and a grandmother's satisfaction. She saw in Sayo the "Perfected Script" that Sasori had abandoned. Ebizo, Baki, and the other high-spec Jonin cast glances of profound approval. Even Karura, holding the young Temari, looked at the thirteen-year-old with astonishment, realizing that the village's future architecture had just been stabilized.
Rasa personally handed Sayo a brand new flak jacket. It was the darker, more intricate vest of a Jonin, embroidered with the Sunagakure symbol in high-tensile thread.
Sayo received it with both hands. It felt surprisingly heavy, as if the fabric itself carried the Weight of the entire village's expectations. He solemnly donned the vest, a new identity, a new "Initialization."
He stood on the dais, his silhouette stretching long in the setting sun, merging with the towering silver shadow of the Mirage behind him. To the world watching, he was no longer a "Factory Apprentice." He was the Architect of the Sand.
"Rank: Jonin," Sayo whispered to himself as the roar of the crowd washed over him. "Admin Rights: Full. Initializing Project: Genesis."
The sun dipped below the horizon, marking the end of Suna's long winter. Season 2 of his life was over; the era of the machine was just beginning.
