Chapter 109 - Chapter 109: Returning Victoriously

The defeated Hidden Mist fleet, like an injured sea beast bleeding into the salt, dragged its broken remnants and vanished miserably beyond the horizon. They left behind only the rhythmic sound of waves crashing against the shore, a natural "Cleanup Script" washing away the biological traces of the battle. East Sea Bay regained its surface tranquility, yet the jagged combat marks on the beach, the glassed sand from explosions and the scattered, broken ninja tools silently recounted the tragedy that had nearly uninstalled Suna's southern defense.

Sunagakure's latest "System Directives" were quickly delivered via high-speed communication hawk.

Pakura's unit was ordered to maintain their position on the East Line, establishing temporary fortifications and monitoring the sea. Following her "Dehydration" of the Mist's vanguard, her reputation as the "Goddess of the Scorch Release" began to broadcast across the Land of Wind like a high-bandwidth signal. She was the village's primary firewall, and she would remain at the perimeter.

On the South Line, Sayo received a different set of instructions: lead the Second Division, escort the injured comrades, and return to the Village.

There was no grand ceremony on the beach; the work following the victory was practical, quiet, and clinical. Sayo's Puppet Squad and the remaining Medical Ninjas searched through the dunes, gently placing every injured comrade onto a stretcher or loading them onto the "Camel-Class" transport puppets. The bodies of the fallen were collected with a reverence that bypassed rank. They were wrapped in clean white cloth, the "Blank Shrouds" of the desert. Their names would be etched into the Memorial Stone, their "Data" preserved by the living.

The team began their march westward. They had arrived as swift as a fire-storm; they returned as steady as a tectonic shift. Sayo still stood upon the broad shoulder armor of the Mirage v.2.0, but the Neural Interface threads behind his head had been retracted. The massive puppet followed the team silently, its ten-meter frame acting as a silent, silver guardian. Sayo's gaze swept over the battle scars along the route and the pained, furrowed brows of the men on the stretchers.

They had won this battle, and they had won it with an efficiency the world didn't expect. But the "Latency" of war is not easily erased.

As the familiar silhouette of Sunagakure, a city constructed of massive, wind-carved rocks gradually appeared on the horizon, the atmosphere within the team began to shift. The fatigue remained, but an indescribable "Process" of excitement began to sprout in the silence.

Still several miles from the Village Gate, Sayo suddenly raised his hand, and the entire column came to a synchronized halt. He leaped down from the Mirage, landing steadily in the sand. He turned to face the men, a unit that had endured a high-stress test and returned with both victory and scars.

His gaze swept over every puppeteer. Most of their machines were damaged, some reduced to "Legacy Parts," but their eyes were exceptionally bright.

"Everyone," Sayo's voice carried through the wind, clear and amplified. "The Hidden Mist attempted to format our existence. We responded with a 'Delete' of our own. We defended our homeland. Now, we are home."

He paused, his voice rising with a strength that felt like a localized power-surge. "Put aside your fatigue. Stand tall. Let the Village see the 'Hardware' that protected them in their time of crisis! Let them see the sharp edge of the Puppet Brigade!"

Before his words finished, Sayo clapped his hands together, then raised them high in a "Summoning Script."

Boom!!!

A massive cloud of white smoke erupted, and the silver-gray giant, the Mirage v.2.0 reappeared in its full, majestic glory, standing tall amid the swirling sand. The afternoon sun reflected off its smooth, conductive armor, casting a glorious, cold sheen across the dunes.

No more words were needed. The "Sub-routine" of the unit was triggered.

Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang!

A series of summoning smokes exploded down the line. Puppets of various shapes and sizes were materialized one after another. Raptor-types for close-quarters, multi-armed support units covered in firing ports, and even a few ancient, "Legacy Models" inherited from fathers and teachers. At this moment, they were no longer a unit of "Damaged Assets." They were a victorious army, a torrent constructed of steel, chakra, and indomitable will.

Sayo leaped back onto the shoulder of the Mirage. A dozen condensed chakra threads burst from the back of his neck, plugging into the giant's interface. He took massive, ground-shaking strides, leading the charge toward the gate.

Behind him, the puppeteers took their positions. A steel torrent composed of dozens of puppets marched grandly toward the gates of Sunagakure. The rhythmic thud of heavy footsteps and the whirring of high-speed actuators created a sense of power that was both heart-stopping and immensely reassuring.

The Village Gate was already wide open, a "Public Directory" awaiting their return.

Inside, the villagers had poured out by the thousands. They gathered along the road, their eyes filled with the desperation of those who had expected a second defeat after Kikyō Mountain. And when the silver-gray giant appeared at the entrance, stepping through the gate with its shocking, ten-meter presence, the crowd erupted in a "System-Wide Peak."

"It's Lord Sayo!" "The Puppet Brigade! They've returned!" "The Mist is gone! We won!"

Cheers and shouts erupted like a mountain roar. People waved sand-colored strips of cloth—the village's "Identity Tag." At the front of the crowd, the high command was present. Fourth Kazekage Rasa stood tall, flanked by Elders Chiyo and Ebizō. Baki and Karura, who was holding the young Temari, watched with a quiet, profound relief.

Sayo controlled the Mirage to stop ten paces from the Kazekage. He leaped down, the neural threads retracting with a soft hiss. The puppeteers behind him synchronized their machines to a halt.

Sayo knelt on one knee, his voice steady as he delivered the "Mission Log": "Fourth Kazekage-sama. I was ordered to intercept the Hidden Mist at East Sea Bay. The mission is complete. We have routed the enemy, deleted three of the Seven Ninja Swordsmen, and forced a total retreat. I lead the Second Division back to base."

Behind him, every puppeteer saluted. The cluster of steel paid its respects to the "System Admin."

Rasa strode forward, his own "Magnet Release" aura resonating faintly with the iron in Sayo's puppet. He personally helped Sayo stand. His gaze swept over the Mirage and the soaring spirit of the survivors. A complex, satisfied curve formed on his usually stern mouth. He saw the "Hope" that had grown in the village's darkest hour.

"You have worked hard," Rasa's voice was a deep, resonant signal. "You are Sunagakure's heroes. The Village is proud of your output."

"Certain Victory! Sunagakure, Certain Victory!"

The cry began with one voice and quickly spread until the entire village was vibrating with the roar. The gloom of the Kikyō Mountain defeat was, at this moment, completely overwritten by the light of victory.

Sayo stood in the center of the cheering crowd, his hand touching the Chrono-Furnace on his wrist. The victory was real, but his engineer's mind was already looking at the next "Update."

"This was just the first test of the new architecture," he thought as he looked at Rasa. "Next, we rebuild the entire village."

The heroes had returned, and the "Initialization" of a new era for the Hidden Sand had begun.
