Hearing that reasonable-sounding but absolutely LOADED question, Samuel took several more steps backward until his back actually hit the wall.
He held up both hands as if to ward her off and said desperately, "You—you stay away! Just—just stay right there!"
Hearing that panicked demand, Heena looked at him with an expression of confused hurt that was completely, obviously fake.
"Come on, darling. What do you mean? What have I done to upset you?"
And with that, she took another deliberate step forward.
That was apparently Samuel's breaking point.
He literally RAN out of the room—just bolted through the door like a frightened rabbit, not even bothering to grab his outer robe or shoes.
It was NIGHT. The proper, dignified young master was running through the household corridors in his sleeping clothes, barefoot, fleeing from his own wife.
Heena stood in the doorway watching his retreating figure and let her seductive expression drop into one of complete disgust.
