Chapter 13 - Chapter 13 — The First Ally

I stared at Sebas blankly.

For a few long seconds, I couldn't bring myself to speak. My mind was still echoing with his words—about monsters wearing masks, about gods who slaughter without remorse, about a world that was no longer a story with a guaranteed happy ending.

Finally, I asked the question that had been weighing on my chest since he opened his mouth.

"Why are you telling me all this?"

Sebas didn't answer immediately.

Instead, he looked at me—truly looked at me. Not as a butler. Not as a guardian created by goddesses. But as someone watching a fragile, dangerous future unfold before his eyes.

"Because I don't want you to suffer, young master," he said at last.

His voice was calm, but there was something genuine beneath it—concern that couldn't be faked.

"In this world," Sebas continued, "there are beings who would destroy everything you love, not because they gain anything from it, but simply to hurt you."

I clenched my fists unconsciously.

"You cannot save everyone by yourself," he said quietly. "No matter how powerful you become."

I stared at him in silence.

For someone created to be my protector, he was brutally honest.

After a moment, I spoke again.

"Sebas… can you do me a favor?"

He straightened slightly and nodded.

"Of course, young master."

"Prepare an empty room for me," I said. "Somewhere private."

Sebas didn't ask why. He simply bowed.

"Yes, sir."

He turned and left, closing the door softly behind him.

.....

Some time passed.

I lay back on my bed, staring at the ceiling, replaying everything in my mind.

Sebas was right.

The anime, the novels—they showed the supernatural world with a filter. Even the villains had charm. Even the most infamous figures were softened.

Azazel, supposedly the most dangerous of the Fallen Angels, was practically comic relief.

But that was fiction.

This was reality.

A reality where pain was permanent. Where death meant the end. Where if I failed, there would be no reset, no next episode.

And for the first time since reincarnating, the weight of this world pressed down on me.

If I died here, it would truly be the end.

When I finally stood up and left my room, my resolve was clearer than it had ever been.

The room Sebas had prepared was large, empty, and reinforced. The walls were thick, layered with faint magical inscriptions meant to contain energy.

Sebas stood inside, hands folded behind his back.

"What are we going to do, young master?" he asked, curiosity evident in his tone.

I didn't answer right away.

Instead, I reached into my Inventory.

[Inventory]• Special Summon Letter

I removed the single item I possessed. Golden particles gathered in my hand, condensing into a solid object.

A brown card, decorated with golden accents.

On its surface were engraved seven figures locked in battle.

.....

[Name: Special Summon Letter]Rarity: Super RareType: ItemDescription:This card allows the user to connect to the Throne of Heroes and summon Servants divided into seven classes: Saber, Archer, Lancer, Rider, Berserker, Caster, and Assassin.

Servants are reincarnations of legendary souls—Heroic Spirits drawn from humanity's history. Each Servant possesses Noble Phantasms, which may take the form of weapons, abilities, or conceptual phenomena.

Summoning requires a ritual and a catalyst—an item or concept strongly connected to the chosen hero.

.....

"If I can't save everyone by myself," I said quietly, "then I'll need help."

Sebas's eyes widened as he recognized the card.

"I see…" he murmured. "So you intend to summon a Servant."

"Yes."

He nodded approvingly.

"So, which Heroic Spirit will you call?"

I hesitated.

There were many choices.

Scáthach—the immortal witch of the Land of Shadows. A peerless warrior and teacher.

Okita Souji—swift, loyal, and deadly.

Artoria Pendragon… imagining her reaction alone almost made me smile.

All of them were incredible.

All of them could be summoned later.

But right now—

There was only one answer.

Beside me, golden ripples spread through the air.

The Gate of Babylon opened.

From it emerged a cascade of golden light, coiling and descending like a living thing.

Sebas stiffened.

"That is…?" he whispered.

"Exactly," I replied calmly.

The Chains of Heaven.

Enkidu — Chains of Heaven

The most trusted Noble Phantasm of the original Gilgamesh. A weapon created to bind gods themselves. An anti-divine concept that embodied absolute restraint.

"I see," Sebas said, awe evident in his voice. "That is… a perfect catalyst."

I stepped forward and tossed the Summon Letter into the air.

[Use "Enkidu: Chains of Heaven" as catalyst?]

"Yes."

The world trembled.

A massive surge of energy erupted, flooding the room and kicking up a dense cloud of smoke. Magical pressure weighed down on my body, but I endured.

When the smoke slowly dispersed—

Someone stood before me.

A being of impossible beauty.

Their face was flawless, like a perfectly sculpted doll or homunculus. Long, straight hair cascaded down their back, light green like fresh leaves in spring. Their eyes matched—green tinged with gold, shimmering softly.

Their features were androgynous, youthful, neither clearly male nor female by human standards.

They wore a simple white tunic, loose and unadorned, concealing their body's shape entirely.

"I am the Servant of the Lancer class," the being said gently."My true name is Enkidu. It is a pleasure to meet you, Master."

My chest tightened.

Enkidu.

Weapon of the Gods.

The one person Gilgamesh ever called an equal.

"It's a pleasure to meet you too," I said sincerely.

For a moment, Enkidu stared at me.

Then—

Their eyes lit up.

In the next instant, they leapt forward and wrapped their arms around me in an enthusiastic hug.

"Gil! It's really you!" Enkidu exclaimed. "What happened? You're so small!"

I froze.

Sebas nearly dropped his composure.

Then Enkidu pulled back slightly and stared into my eyes.

Their expression changed.

"You are not Gilgamesh," Enkidu said calmly.

…Damn it.

That was fast.

What kind of bond did they have for him to see through me instantly?

.....

Some time later, we were seated together, talking calmly.

"So this is a different world," Enkidu said thoughtfully.

I nodded.

"A world where the Age of Gods never ended?"

Another nod.

"And you are the Gilgamesh of this world… or rather, his descendant."

I nodded again.

I didn't correct them. Saying I was a reincarnated human who died in another world would only complicate things. Being seen as a descendant was enough.

"I understand," Enkidu said after a pause.

I hesitated before speaking.

"If you wish, I can send you back to the Throne of Heroes," I said honestly.

Enkidu shook their head.

"I chose to walk beside humanity," they replied. "And you are human. Even if you are not the Gilgamesh I once knew, that doesn't matter."

They bowed their head slightly.

"You may use me however you wish."

I smiled and shook my head.

"I won't use you, Enkidu."

I met their eyes.

"From today onward, we are friends."

Enkidu smiled back—warm, genuine, and bright.

And for the first time since coming to this world, I felt something solid forming beneath my feet.

An ally.

A bond.

A future that didn't have to be faced alone.

I wondered what kind of adventures awaited us in this new life.

And for the first time—

I looked forward to finding out.
