Chapter 14 - Chapter 14 — Nine Years of a King’s Ascent

Nine Years Later

Nine years.

That was how long it had been since Gilgamesh had reincarnated into this world.

Nine years since he had awakened in a body that was not his own, bearing a name that shook gods and monsters alike.

Nine years since he had discovered Sebas's true nature.

Nine years since he had summoned Enkidu—the only being the original King of Heroes had ever called an equal.

Those nine years had passed in what felt like both an instant and an eternity.

And they had not been wasted.

Those years were productive—no, more than that.

They were brutal.

From the very beginning, Gilgamesh trained relentlessly.

There were no days off.

No mercy.

No excuses.

From the moment the sun rose until long after it set, Sebas pushed him beyond what any normal being—human, devil, or god—would consider sane.

The butler was, without question, a sadist when it came to training.

Morning to night.

Every day.

Sebas taught Gilgamesh everything.

Not just how to fight—but how to survive.

He taught him how to wield magic from countless systems: Nordic runic magic, fairy magic that manipulated causality, Shinto purification arts, barrier construction, sealing formulas, counter-spells, and support magic meant not to destroy—but to control the battlefield.

Sebas drilled one lesson into him above all else:

Never fight fairly.Never fight blindly.Always find the advantage.

If there was terrain, use it.If there was information, exploit it.If there was fear, weaponize it.

And if there was no advantage—

Create one.

At the same time, Enkidu trained Gilgamesh in ways Sebas never could.

While Sebas taught technique, Enkidu taught instinct.

The Weapon of the Gods helped Gilgamesh truly understand the Gate of Babylon.

Not as a mindless rain of weapons.

Not as overwhelming brute force.

But as a treasury of answers.

Enkidu taught him how to select weapons deliberately—how to analyze enemies, situations, and terrain, then choose the single best weapon for the moment.

Spear for speed.Sword for precision.Chains for restraint.Conceptual weapons for absolutes.

Gilgamesh stopped relying solely on his skill [Weapon Proficiency].

Instead, he developed true mastery.

Real skill.

The two even began sparring regularly.

It quickly turned into a competition.

One Gilgamesh lost more often than not.

Enkidu wasn't just stronger—he was experienced.

Sebas eventually classified Enkidu as a being of the Celestial Dragon Class.

After all, Enkidu could freely increase his physical parameters without limit.

And when Enkidu unleashed his Noble Phantasm—

The impact was described as:

"As if the world had been created seven times… and destroyed seven times."

But those nine years weren't just training.

Gilgamesh traveled.

Extensively.

He walked the human world, hidden among mortals.

He visited territories of Devils, Fallen Angels, and even gods.

And that was when he discovered something deeply unsettling.

The name Gilgamesh carried terrifying weight in this world.

To the point of being hunted.

Gilgamesh lost count of how many times Fallen Angels and Devils attempted to assassinate him—or enslave him.

To them, Gilgamesh was not a legend.

He was a nightmare.

From what he gathered, the original Gilgamesh was remembered as an absolute monster.

A being even God and the original Maou had feared.

Even after death, he was remembered as the Strongest Mortal to ever exist.

And just like the Gate of Babylon, his existence was coveted by gods and monsters alike.

Gilgamesh had no doubt—

This was the work of the Goddesses.

Through his travels and battles, Gilgamesh also began to understand how levels worked in this world.

Roughly.

Levels 1 to 5 were typically humans.

Of course, there were exceptions—monsters like Vasco Strada and Cao Cao.

But generally, this was the realm of those unaware of the supernatural.

Levels 5 to 15 belonged to Low-Class beings.

Levels 15 to 25 were Middle-Class.

Levels 25 to 50 marked High-Class.

Levels 50 to 70 were Ultimate-Class.

Levels 70 to 90 belonged to Maou-Class beings.

And levels 90 to 100 were the realm of God-Class.

Some beings—like Sirzechs Lucifer—were rumored to have surpassed even level 100.

But Gilgamesh learned something crucial.

Levels alone meant nothing.

Experience.Attributes.Abilities.

Those decided battles.

A perfect example was himself.

Even without reaching level 100, Gilgamesh was confident he could fight—and potentially defeat—Sirzechs. Not because he was stronger. But because his abilities were broken.

Gilgamesh had raised his bar to absurd levels.

And that wasn't even counting his Sacred Gear.

He had trained relentlessly with Zenith Tempest, gaining near-perfect control over its elemental authority. Although he still hadn't unlocked its Balance Breaker, Sebas theorized it would likely be a Subspecies rather than a traditional form.

Hellblaze

Black flames that never extinguished.

Flames that ignored immortality.

Flames that erased regeneration.

They reminded Gilgamesh of Amaterasu, but were far more absolute.

Perhaps one of his most terrifying abilities.

The power to impose his will.

To crush the weak.

Gilgamesh stood silently, overlooking the world he had spent nine years mastering.

This world was no longer fiction.

It was real.

And it was dangerous.

But he was no longer a helpless reincarnated human.

He was no longer just a child with borrowed power.

He was a king in the making.

And the world—

Whether it liked it or not—

Would soon feel his presence.
