Kaelis Vanth was annoyed.
He was currently trying to watch a movie he had "downloaded" from his memories using the System's creation power, but a faint scratching sound was coming from the shadows of the massive palace hallway.
"Valerius!" Kaelis shouted, not moving from his beanbag. "Did we get mice? I keep hearing something in the walls. It's ruinously distracting."
Valerius appeared instantly, his face pale with horror. "Mice, Master? If any creature has dared to infiltrate your domain without an invitation, I shall flay their souls and use their essence to wax the floors!"
In reality, the "mice" were Void-Stalkers—interdimensional predators that usually devoured entire planets. They had smelled the overwhelming energy of the House of Sin and tried to sneak in. They were currently being disintegrated just by touching the wallpaper, but the sound of their souls evaporating was what Kaelis heard as "scratching."
[System Note: Host is annoyed by 'pests'. Opportunity detected.]
[System Message: Master, to deal with pests, you require a Guard Dog. I have found a 'homeless lizard' in a nearby dimension. He is starving and needs a warm place to sleep. He is very small and harmless.]
"A lizard? Like a gecko?" Kaelis scratched his chin. "I guess a pet would be nice. Does he eat a lot? I don't want a high-maintenance pet."
"He eats very little," the System lied, its digital circuits buzzing with anticipation. 'Yes... summon him! Obsidian the Black Dragon King hasn't eaten in a hundred years. He will swallow you whole the moment he sees your "puny" human face!'
"Alright, summon the lizard," Kaelis clicked the screen. "And System, create a small dog house in the corner of the hallway. Somewhere he can stay out of the way."
[Location: The Ashen Void — The Dragon's Graveyard]
Obsidian, the Black Dragon King, lay atop a mountain of cursed gold. He was a creature of pure pride and destruction. His wings, when spread, could blot out a sun.
"Who calls for the King of Ruin?" he roared, his voice shaking the foundations of the dimension.
Suddenly, a white rift appeared. Obsidian didn't even have time to breathe fire before he was sucked into the vacuum.
Obsidian landed in the hallway of the House of Sin. He immediately shifted into his "Humanoid Form"—a massive man with black scales for armor and horns that dripped with magma.
"Which mortal dares to bind the Black—"
He stopped.
He looked at the floor. It was made of Void Marble.
He looked at the pillars. They were Star-Core Pillars.
Then, he looked at the "Human" sitting on a white blob.
Kaelis looked up from his iPad. "Oh, you're a big lizard. Or... a guy with a scale fetish? Whatever. System said you were homeless. Look, I've got a spot for you over there."
Kaelis pointed to a "dog house" he had just created.
To Kaelis, it was a simple wooden box with some straw.
To Obsidian, it was a Primal Dragon Sanctuary forged from World-Tree Timber and lined with Phoenix-Down Feathers. The energy coming from that "box" was so comforting it made Obsidian's dragon instincts scream with joy.
"You... you want me to stay... there?" Obsidian asked, his voice trembling.
"If you want," Kaelis shrugged. "I'll give you some scraps from dinner later. Speaking of which..."
Kaelis used his creation power to pull out a plate of "Chicken Wings" he had just made.
[System Lie: Master, this is common poultry.]
[Hidden Truth: This is the meat of the Golden Phoenix, a divine bird that grants immortality.]
"Here, lizard. Have some chicken," Kaelis tossed a wing toward the Black Dragon King.
Obsidian caught the wing. He recognized the scent instantly. This was the Eternal Phoenix—the dragon race's ancient rival. Even the Dragon God couldn't catch a Phoenix to eat it. And this human was tossing it around like trash.
Obsidian took a bite.
BOOM.
His internal energy levels tripled. His scales hardened until they could withstand a supernova. His "Homeless Lizard" pride was instantly replaced by an overwhelming desire to be this man's pet forever.
"This... this is..." Obsidian fell to his knees, tears of magma rolling down his cheeks. "This is the greatest meal of my life, Master! I shall guard this hallway until the end of time! No 'mice' shall ever breathe in your presence again!"
Kaelis blinked, turning back to his movie. "Wow, he's really enthusiastic for a lizard. Val, make sure he has water. And Elara, add 'Dog Food' to the shopping list."
Elara, who was standing in the shadows, was frantically writing in her notebook.
Diary Entry: "The Master has enslaved the Black Dragon King using only a single wing of a Phoenix. He calls the King a 'lizard' to remind him of his insignificance. Truly, the Master's cruelty is as infinite as his mercy. I must never forget to buy the 'Dog Food' (which is likely the hearts of fallen gods)."
The System [Deception-9999] was currently running a self-diagnostic.
[Warning: Dragon King has been tamed.]
[Warning: Host's 'House Pet' can now destroy the Higher Realms.]
[System Strategy: I need to summon someone who hates dragons. Maybe that will start a fight?]
