Chapter 126 - Arrival in Siracusa — Lappland’s Plan

Siracusa, a country located near the central region of Terra.

Originally a territory of Leithania, it broke away during the Witch King era and became an independent nation.

Unlike normal countries, Siracusa's political structure was unique across all of Terra: a state ruled by the mafia. Twelve crime families dominated the nation's politics. Although there existed a central administrative body known as the City-State Joint Council, in essence it was nothing more than a puppet of the major families. Judicial institutions subordinate to it—such as the City-State Federal Court—possessed virtually no real authority.

The fact that members of these families, upon reaching adulthood, would "visit the court once and spend time in prison" as a matter of course—and that this had even evolved into a custom—made it clear just how much of a joke the courts and judiciary were in the eyes of the families.

In a border city of Siracusa, Lappland once again set foot on this familiar land.

Looking at the place that was either nostalgic or revolting—perhaps both—Lappland raised a hand slightly. In the next instant, a Borisin girl appeared respectfully at her side.

"Father, what are your orders?"

"Go investigate the distribution of families and gangs in this city."

"Yes."

After receiving the command, the Borisin girl departed, preparing to gather her companions to carry out their father's instructions.

Lappland's arrival in Siracusa was, naturally, due to An Xora's mission.

She was here to seize Siracusa's political power, overthrow the rule of the families, and bring this country under An Xora's control.

For someone who had originally been born into one of Siracusa's families, helping an outsider destroy her homeland—and even wipe out the family she came from—was, by any conventional standard, a despicable act of betrayal.

Yet Lappland felt no burden whatsoever.

On the contrary—she was excited.

Leaving aside the fact that she had already been personally expelled from the Saluzzo family by her own biological father, severing all ties with Siracusa's families, there was also the matter that she had now joined An Xora's "wolf pack," serving a new alpha.

As a member of the pack, Lappland was obligated to obey the pack leader's commands without question.

Let alone overthrowing the families' rule over Siracusa for her new master—even if she were ordered to personally behead her own father, Lappland would not hesitate in the slightest.

This time, aside from a small number of Shadow Ninjas, the main force assisting Lappland consisted of the one thousand Borisin girls she had previously transformed.

If they were merely one thousand ordinary Lupo, overthrowing the family-ruled Siracusa would be nothing more than a pipe dream.

But one thousand Borisin—Lappland's Borisin—plus Lappland herself?

Overthrowing the families would be trivial. Flattening all of Siracusa would be more than feasible.

After all, even without counting the thousand Borisin, Siracusa wouldn't be able to stop Lappland alone.

After undergoing Mobius's Fusion Warrior surgery, Lappland's strength had reached mid to high Dragon-tier by Mobius's own assessment. On Terra, that meant power sufficient to rival—or even surpass—a Feranmut.

Siracusa could not contend with a Feranmut.

By the same logic, Siracusa could not contend with Lappland as she was now.

Yet despite holding such an overwhelming advantage, Lappland did not rush in recklessly. Instead, she showed an uncharacteristic patience.

Strictly speaking, this was the first mission An Xora had ever entrusted to her. Lappland wanted to complete it as perfectly as possible.

She could absolutely rely on brute force—storm Siracusa's capital, take over the central council, then hunt down every family head and core member and turn them into "mille-feuille"—using violence to seize the country in the shortest time possible.

But such a rushed approach would inevitably plunge Siracusa into chaos for a period of time.

The families' grip on the nation was deeply entrenched. If they collapsed overnight, it was easy to imagine how many ambitious gangs would immediately jump out, trying to replace them.

Thus, to minimize disruption, Lappland planned to start from the borders. Using her thousand Borisin, she would take control of Siracusa's cities one by one. Only after all cities were firmly under her control would she move to take over the central government.

Siracusa didn't have many major cities to begin with—just over twenty mobile cities in total. Stationing a few dozen Borisin in each city would be enough to ensure stability.

In other countries, such actions would inevitably provoke military suppression.

But Siracusa was different.

Siracusa had no standing army whatsoever. All armed forces were little more than gang members cobbled together under the families. The entire country could be described as a loose pile of sand.

Thus, from the very beginning, Lappland never worried about facing organized resistance from the families.

To put it bluntly—if Leithania weren't sitting in between, the Holy Terra Empire could probably force Siracusa to kneel just by sending a group army to conduct a few border exercises, or letting the Wendigo Legions stroll along the frontier.

After completing her investigation of the families and gangs in the city beneath her feet, Lappland decisively prepared to act.

Evening.

Inside the headquarters of a mafia family entrenched in the city, several high-ranking members sat elegantly in their seats, holding glasses of wine and expensive cigars, listening to their subordinates report on the performance of the family's various businesses over the past month.

Suddenly, one executive seated near the window seemed to sense something and stood up, walking over.

"What's wrong?"

The others halted the report and followed him to the window.

Through the glass, they saw that at some point, massive dark clouds had gathered in the night sky. The bright moonlight was completely obscured, and violent lightning churned within the clouds.

At the same time, illuminated by the lights of the compound, they vaguely made out silhouettes standing atop the surrounding buildings—staring at them like men already condemned to death.

RUMBLE—!!!

In the next instant, countless bolts of lightning descended from the heavens, engulfing the building at the center of the compound where the executives stood.

They didn't even have time to scream.

In the terrifying thunderstorm, the family's leadership was reduced to ashes.

Outside the compound, the power in Lappland's hands dissipated, and the storm clouds in the sky gradually dispersed.

Immediately after, large numbers of Borisin girls surged into the compound, carrying out a bloody purge of the remaining gang members.

And this scene was not unique to a single location.

Every mafia family force within the city was wiped out.

Most gang members were killed before they could even react. A handful who witnessed their comrades' deaths and managed to respond could only stare in terror as these uniformly white-haired Borisin girls reaped their lives like incarnations of death.

Thus, in a single night, an entire city changed hands.

And from this city as the starting point, hundreds of Borisin girls began spreading outward—toward the surrounding cities.
