Chapter 54 - Interrogation — Can the Dead Kill the Living?

"A soul-selling den?"

Jiang Han froze. Looking at the women nearby—eyes full of desire, dressed in revealing, skimpy clothes—how could she not understand what that meant?

"Exactly," Ma Jun nodded matter-of-factly.

"This place is basically holy ground for Hong Kong men. Just a month ago, there were at least two hundred hostesses working here."

"From all over the world—every skin tone, every nationality. Anything you could want."

"Fair prices, excellent service—top-tier in the industry."

"They say during peak hours, the men lining up outside—if it's not a hundred, it's at least eighty."

Jiang Han's pale face flushed bright red.

Even her speech started to stumble.

"Y-you… how do you even know all this…?"

"I asked Old Cao before coming," Ma Jun replied casually, then turned around with a grin.

"Never thought a straight-laced cop like him would research places like this so thoroughly."

Jiang Han fell silent.

Since they were already here, there was no choice but to go inside and investigate.

At that moment, several women—no longer young—closed in from the side.

Their target was clear. Their eyes were glued to Ma Jun, unable to look away.

"Hey, handsome, come have some fun."

"Big sister will give you a discount."

"Don't listen to those scary rumors—we're very safe here!"

One particularly voluptuous woman even tugged at her clothes on purpose, deepening her cleavage.

Jiang Han nearly choked on the strong perfume assaulting her nose, coughing repeatedly.

The women even shot her annoyed looks.

Ma Jun, on the other hand, showed no discomfort at all.

He even seemed completely at ease.

"Safe or not," he said calmly, "you should know that yourselves."

With that, he casually pulled out his ID and flashed it in front of them.

"Police. Investigating a case."

"Call your boss out. I have some questions."

The women's enthusiasm instantly cooled.

"Oh—it's Officer, sir. Our boss isn't here right now."

"Are you sure?" Ma Jun asked.

His gaze shifted to a few shifty figures lurking nearby.

He flicked his foot, hooking a steel pipe lying on the ground and lifting it lightly into his hand.

Then, casually, he clasped it with both hands—

Crunch.

A solid steel pipe was crushed into a ball.

With a flick of his wrist, the steel ball shot out like a black shadow, flying five or six meters before slamming into the wall beside the lurking figures.

Boom!

The steel ball embedded itself deeply into the concrete wall, cracking it spiderweb-style.

Under the stunned gazes around him, Ma Jun said flatly:

"So. Can we talk now?"

"Officer, please—have some tea."

A greasy-faced man with a thick gold chain around his neck hurried over, bowing respectfully as he offered a teacup.

He was smiling all over, barely daring to breathe.

Just moments ago, he had personally witnessed this ridiculously young cop crush a steel pipe into a ball with his bare hands.

A humanoid tyrannosaurus.

"Trying to hide from me?" Ma Jun smiled faintly.

"Feeling guilty? Or… could it be that those people were killed by you?"

The man cried out immediately.

"Officer, you can't say things like that!"

"Why would I kill them? They were my top earners—each making tens of thousands a month!"

"I'm not an idiot!"

"Then why hide?" Ma Jun pressed.

Lowering his voice, the man spoke anxiously:

"Officer, let's be honest—everyone knows the killer isn't human!"

He glanced left and right, as if avoiding something unseen.

"Didn't your people already investigate? They almost lost their lives!"

"I'm doing this for your own good."

"You're young, officer. You've got a bright future. Why throw your life away here?"

"I already hired someone to handle it. You should leave—quickly."

Ma Jun didn't care in the slightest.

"If rituals worked," he said coolly, "why would we need police?"

"To be honest with you, I was sent specifically to deal with things like this."

"Stop wasting time. Tell me everything you know."

The man hesitated, half-believing, half-doubting—

But after recalling Ma Jun crushing the steel pipe with his bare hands, he finally spilled everything.

"What I told you is pretty much the same as what I told the other officers."

"The three who died were all my top girls."

"Even Japanese magazines rated them—called them the 'Five Golden Hairpins.'"

"It's a pity… now only one is left."

"Wait," Ma Jun interrupted.

"Five Golden Hairpins? Didn't only three people die? Are you bad at math?"

Fear flashed through the man's eyes.

"There's… one more. She died half a year ago."

"The three after that were also killed by her."

"I swear, officer—I'm not lying!"

"It wasn't just me who saw it. Qiqi came back!"

"She was just as beautiful as before—exactly the same."

"She went into their rooms… and then they died!"

Cold sweat began to bead on his forehead.

He looked as though he were reliving a nightmare.

His body trembled lightly.

"They… they died so horribly…"
