Genevieve
My eyes flashed open as I felt the excruciating pain from the needles entering my body. I screamed in agony as I started to see terrifying faces laughing at me.
"Genevieve!" I jolted awake by the sudden yell that I heard and screamed when I felt a hand on both my shoulders. I saw Ivan's face, so I stopped screaming.
"God, what is happening to you..." I watched him sit on the bed with frustration radiating from him that I could feel too.
My heart was racing and felt like it wanted to escape from my chest, while my hands were trembling.
He stood up and turned on the main light in the room. He went back and sat on the bed while staring at me.
"Tell me." He demanded.
I gripped the blanket more tightly as it covered my whole body.
"Nightmare." I felt my eyes stinging again, and I heard him sigh.
"Go back to sleep, I'll be here." He removed the blanket but stopped when he saw the red lines all around my body.
"What the fuck..." He went closer to me and grabbed one of my arms to examine the glowing red lines.
"I never wanted this..." A tear streamed down my face.
The door opened, and Ethan entered.
Something's wrong with his energy...
"Are you okay?" I stared at Ethan before shaking my head slowly.
He sighed while Ivan stopped examining my hand and exchanged glances with Ethan.
"Just go to sleep. Ivan will be here to guard you." Ethan nodded at me.
"They know I'm here. Do they?" I looked down at my lap. I could feel they were surprised by my words.
I stood up immediately, but Ethan held my arm.
"Please, Genevieve. This is for the best." I scoffed at his words and forcefully removed his hands.
"The best? Did you even know that they injected me with those big needles all over my body..." I looked down at my feet, and I could feel my emotions resurfacing again like a ticking bomb.
"They said they would bring you back to remove it, so it doesn't affect you anymore!" I groaned in irritation at his words
"YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND," I yelled at him and went closer; I felt a tingling sensation in my palm.
"THEY TORTURED ME!" My hand suddenly aimed at a wall, and I watched it create a small black hole, and I heard them gasp. It made a massive round gap in the wall in an instant.
"I'm leaving." I scratched my hair out of frustration, but as I was about to walk away, I got teleported outside of their mansion. I sighed while I felt my hands continuously shaking.
I saw a laser pointing at my stomach, which made me aware of my surroundings, and as soon as I heard leaves crunching, I immediately ran away from their mansion. Luck wasn't on my side as I felt a burning sensation in my back, making me groan in pain. I fell on my knees and coughed up blood with a whine.
I heard soft footsteps behind me and saw a woman's shadow beside me. I turned around to see a woman standing behind me with a peculiar smirk on her face, her long white hair blowing in the air. She was holding a large sniper rifle as she continued to look down at me.
"Hello, sweetie, I'm Kaslana. Sorry to say, but I didn't expect to encounter such a weak, mutilated human before." She giggled with her smirk widening. "I'm sorry I had to shoot you; you might've escaped my grasp." My breath heaves as she gives me a sweet smile, an aura that feels demanding and authoritative.
She yanked me up, like I weighed nothing. A pained grunt escaped my lips as she made me stand in front of her and cuffed both my arms.
"I'm moving you back to your cage, okay?" She gave me a firm push, urging me forward. I glanced back one last time at the towering mansion before forcing myself to keep walking. A few steps ahead, a heavily armored prisoner transport vehicle waited, surrounded by armed guards. Its reinforced steel doors stood open, as if expecting me.
I stepped inside the vehicle as she made me sit in front of her. My eyes darted to the sniper rifle in her hands. She slid a magazine before locking it into place with a sharp click. Her fingers then lingered on the rifle's cold metal as if she were petting a dog. I felt unsettled as she caught me staring at her and gave me a knowing smirk.
I felt a vibration through the vehicle, signaling that it was moving somewhere, but without a window, I couldn't tell where it was going.
I sighed as she opened her mouth to spit words at me.
"Denial type of case, huh?" My brows rose together at her words. She clicked her tongue, and my eyes widened as she raised the rifle and pressed its solid butt against the side of my head. Her smirk never wavered.
"What I'm trying to say here, darlin', is you're denying the core. That's your case based on my target information, and my boss needs you back in his cage." I sneered as she put her rifle beside her chair and took her cellphone from her pants pocket.
kill...
The voice inside my head made me grip the chair I'm sitting on as I squeezed my eyes shut. A strange force seized control of my body. I could still see everything through my own eyes, but I was no longer the one moving. A realization fell into me as I felt that I was nothing more than a helpless spectator trapped inside myself.
She had already turned away, answering a call through her earpiece, completely unaware of what was happening behind her.
Heat surged through my hands, growing hotter by the second. I watched in horror as flames coiled around my palms, gathering into a blazing sphere that pulsed with terrifying energy.
"You know you should never turn your back on your target; now the tables have turned." A dark and low voice escaped my lips.
She turned around with her eyes widened
The fireball shot from my hand before I could stop it.
She threw herself aside just in time. The blazing projectile slammed into the armored transport behind her, erupting in a deafening explosion. Metal twisted apart, smoke billowed into the air, and a jagged opening tore through the vehicle's reinforced wall.
An escape route.
"Hmmph!" She groaned as she kicked me in the stomach with her knees, but it seemed my body didn't react to the pain.
My eyes widened as I saw the dark liquid again. A viscous black sludge spilled across the floor, writhing like smoke trapped in liquid form. It slowly ate the vehicle like it was nothing.
My gaze locked onto the opening in the shattered transport.
Before I could make a conscious decision, the core controlling my body acted on its own.
Black sludge poured from my arm, twisting through the air before hardening into a chain lined with jagged spikes. It lashed forward with terrifying speed, coiling tightly around her wrists and pinning her in place. She struggled against it, but the inky restraints only tightened, their barbed edges digging into the metal beneath her.
Without hesitation, my body leapt through the breach in the transport.
The moment my boots hit the pavement, I realized I was no longer inside the compound. Towering buildings surrounded me on every side, unfamiliar streets stretching endlessly in every direction. Horns blared in the distance as crowds scattered in panic, smoke drifting into the sky behind me.
Somehow... I had ended up in the middle of a city I had never seen before.
I regained control of my body, and my emotions immediately burst out. My body began to tremble, caused by the situation earlier, and before I could make another step, I saw the world darken, and my head hit the ground.
Third-Person View
"I lost her. She used her ability to melt the vehicle; my army died."
Kaslana stood with her head bowed, one hand clutching her injured arm. The room was silent, suffocatingly so. She could feel every pair of eyes fixed on her from around the conference table, some filled with disappointment, others with quiet judgment. At the head of the table, her superior remained expressionless, yet his silence carried more weight than any reprimand.
A full minute passed without a single word.
Then the office doors slid open.
A young man stepped inside.
Kaslana instinctively lifted her gaze.
His snow-white hair mirrored her own, framing a face as cold as winter itself. Piercing blue eyes swept across the room before settling on her for a brief moment, unreadable and devoid of emotion. His posture was calm, almost effortless, as though the heavy atmosphere filling the room did not affect him whatsoever.
"You may go, Kaslana, but let this be your final mistake, or we will hold a severe punishment for you."
