Nora's POV
The hostess at Annie's greets us with a bright smile that could power half the city. Her enthusiasm radiates across the entrance as she clutches her tablet like a lifeline.
"Hi there, welcome to Annie's. How many in your party tonight?"
"Three," I respond, already anticipating the inevitable wait time that comes with popular restaurants on weekend nights.
She glances down at her screen, fingers dancing across the surface. "It's going to be about thirty minutes for a table. Is that okay with you?"
I open my mouth to accept the wait, but James steps forward before I can speak. His presence immediately commands her attention, and I watch as her eyes lock onto his with an intensity that makes my stomach clench.
"You're going to seat us at the next available table," he says, his voice carrying that hypnotic quality that never fails to work on humans.
