Nora's POV
Before I can even process what's happening, James launches himself from the car with inhuman speed, racing toward the figure in our headlights.
The bright beams illuminate the man clearly, and when I blink, I swear dark wing silhouettes flicker behind his form.
My breath catches. It's him - the mysterious figure from the alley who guided me to that demon-infested warehouse. I still can't determine if he led me there hoping I'd die or knowing I could defeat the creature.
I survived, barely. Without Shane's intervention, I would have become demon food. Panic floods through me as I fumble with my seatbelt and bolt from the vehicle.
"James!" I scream, watching him seize the man by his throat. His fangs extend as he prepares for the killing blow. "Don't!"
James snaps his head toward me but maintains his death grip on the stranger. "Give me one damn good reason I shouldn't rip this winged bastard apart."
