Nora's POV
The last time that piece of trash I used to call brother laid eyes on us, he looked ready to soil himself from terror. Judging by the expression washing over his face right now, nothing has changed.
"Well hello there, Phoenix," I greet him with the sweetest smile I can muster. He stands frozen on the pavement beside the passenger door, clearly blocking someone from exiting the vehicle. We're only a few houses down from Lena's place, so I assume he's here to babysit Elodie while Lena spends time with me tonight. "I'm sure you remember Kevin, don't you?"
Kevin moves forward a step, tilting his head with predatory grace. "The stench of corruption clings to you," he informs Phoenix, who jerks backward so violently he nearly tumbles into the street. The car door swings open and Uma emerges, Phoenix's fiancée, wearing a mask of confusion.
Then her gaze finds me.
