Nora's POV
I place the knife down and step back, blinking hard as tears start forming. No matter how much I try to stop them, they're going to fall.
"Nora?" James notices my watery eyes immediately. "What's wrong?"
I close my eyes tight, my nose starting to run too, and grip the counter edge while feeling around for the knife. "Nothing. That onion is just really potent."
"You're crying over an onion?" I sense him moving closer, then feel his fingers brush my hair back over my shoulder.
"I'm not crying," I snap, opening my eyes. "Onions contain some chemical that irritates your tear ducts. It's basic biology."
James tilts his head, clearly trying not to smile. "I thought that only happened in movies."
"It doesn't affect you?"
"Not even a little."
I turn away from the cutting board. "Just another vampire advantage."
"Since we cook so much," he laughs and reaches for the knife. "Let me finish. How do you want them cut?"
