Nora's POV
The wine bottle feels cold against my arm as I reach for Lena's doorbell. James places his palm against the curve of my lower back, his fingers applying gentle pressure through the fabric of my shirt. The familiar touch sends warmth spreading through me. After several heartbeats, the door swings open to reveal Lena's welcoming smile.
"There's my sister," she greets me, stepping aside to make room. "Oh wait, that's right. I need to formally invite you in, James. Please, come inside."
"You already extended that invitation once," I remind her as we cross the threshold. "It remains valid unless you specifically revoke it."
"I had no idea it worked that way." Lena secures the lock behind us.
"Simply say 'I rescind your invitation' while focusing on the specific vampire," James explains patiently. "The magic will immediately expel them from your home."
"Seriously? And they cannot return?"
"Not without a fresh invitation."
