Nora's POV
My heart jumps in my chest when I spot Kevin standing beside my Jeep in the parking lot.
"Jesus!" I gasp, pressing a hand to my racing pulse.
"It's Kevin. My name is Kevin," he corrects me with that familiar confused expression.
"I know that. It's just what people say when they're startled."
"You're calling out to Jesus?" His head tilts slightly. "This confuses me."
"Honestly, it confuses me too. It's just an expression people use."
I shake my head, brushing off the explanation. "Forget about it. What brings you here? Has something happened?"
"Nothing urgent. I managed to slip away undetected and thought I should update you. Your father sends his regards as well. He's been keeping watch from a distance but can't risk another visit."
"I figured as much." I exhale slowly and shift the Jeep into reverse, backing carefully out of the space. "I've missed having you around."
Kevin's face brightens with a rare smile. "I've missed you as well."
