Nora's POV
The pavement beneath my feet feels solid after that disorienting journey through space. The air around us is thick with cigarette smoke and the distant sound of music mingles with laughter from somewhere nearby. We're standing in what appears to be a parking lot on a warm night.
"Where exactly are we?" I demand, still feeling slightly unsteady from the transport.
"Austin," Hugo responds, finally releasing James's hand.
This marks James's first experience being transported by an angel, and Kevin had warned me that anyone without angel blood might struggle with the process. I remember how it affected me the first time Shane whisked me from my bedroom to that stunning Australian beach.
James still has his arm wrapped around me, his eyes wide with what looks more like shock than physical discomfort. I suppose vampires don't really get sick, though I find myself wondering what would happen if someone made one spin in circles for an extended period.
