Nora's POV
"Good one," Gideon laughs, lifting his wine glass before taking a generous sip.
"It's the truth," Kevin states firmly. "Nora is expecting."
Gideon nearly spits out his wine, coughing violently. "That can't be right. Unless..." His eyes narrow suspiciously. "No, you wouldn't dare."
"I didn't betray James," I snap, my temper flaring. Since I can't reach him from across the table, I use my telekinetic abilities to flick his nose sharply.
"Ouch." Gideon glares at me but doesn't retaliate with magic like he used to when we were children.
"Are you certain?" Charlette asks, her brown eyes growing wide with shock.
"I've been incredibly nauseated, exhausted, and overly emotional for weeks now," I begin, my voice steady despite the chaos of emotions swirling inside me. "Initially, I blamed it on stress, but then I recalled how James's heart had started beating again. He was drinking water, eating food. He was simultaneously coming back to life while still dying."
