The sound of my heels echoes against the ancient cobblestones as we hurry toward Katherine's workspace. Flickering lanterns throw dancing shadows across the weathered stone walls, their light catching the gilded nameplates beneath portraits of long-dead professors who once walked these same halls.
We navigate through winding corridors, cut across a cozy common area, then climb the steep spiral staircase that leads to Katherine's domain. Her corner sanctuary boasts a crackling hearth positioned behind an enormous mahogany desk, while twin stained-glass windows offer a bird's eye view of the courtyard below where students gather for meals and fresh air between their magical studies.
Books and mystical artifacts fill every available surface in organized chaos. The Infernal Dictionary lies open on her workspace, and I recall Gideon mentioning how Katherine has been researching which type of demon feeds on human hearts.
