Chapter 1 - Welcome to Raccoon City

-BEEP!

It hurts.

A Strong Headache.

Did I drink too much?

What was I doing last night?

I should wake up.

It's tiring.

Exhaustive.

I don't like it.

-BEEP! BEEP!

-BEEP! BEEP!

-BEEP! BEEP!

Trying to reach my smartphone, I wanted to turn the alarm off.

Yet for some reason, I couldn't.

"Annoying," I mumbled as I slowly opened my eyes.

Searching for that monstrosity that was eating away my dreams, I looked around.

Where is it?

The stench of cigarettes that I had never smoked, drenched the entire room. Bottles of alcohol that I barely knew the brand of, were placed in a corner.

On the empty single bed that barely had a sheet to cover myself, I looked around for that alarm, still beeping in my head.

And it was only after the headache slowly subsided, that I saw clearly.

[Welcome to Raccoon City, Sir Ethe Evans!]

A hologram floating in front of me.

Is this a dream?

The beeping slowed, so did my headache. Dizziness faded, as my head became clearer than before.

I looked at the posters in my room.

Raccoon Sharks featuring an afro football player.

An Elephant Parade in a Christmas Decor.

BIG-E poster of some band to be performing on September 30th.

And a Raccoon University poster which had fallen on the ground.

Not too far from me, on the table, there was also a police badge with RPD written on it.

On the floor, beside the table there were cardboards mentioning Monmom and Racco Bells. Probably delivered food items that had been eaten recently.

Shit!

It wasn't that hard to make a connection. Or perhaps because I was already here, it didn't take even seconds to understand that it was all real.

This game, Resident Evil.

I have played it.

Speed ran it until I finished it with world records.

Then I researched the lores so much that I knew more about it than my own city.

Using the sources and the recorded speedrunning videos to post it online and earn some bucks, and then making even more through streams and such.

It was my livelihood, my job, my hobby and my passion. You can say that it even became an extension of my life.

I loved it.

BUT!!!!

"WHY THE FUCK AM I IN THIS GAME?!!!!!!!!"

Despite all the love that I give this game, I could never ever want to be a part of this game. To live in it? OH HELL NAW!!!

Oh! Are you by any chance confused as to why I would say that when I love it so much?

Then let me briefly explain it to you.

Zombies are the weakest enemies in this game.

Those motherf*ckers, I am telling you, are fucking 4 times more strong, resilient and undying than many many other zombie games.

And have you seen those dogs? THOSE ZOMBIE DOGS!!!!!

Lickers….

"MR. X gonna give it to me, ain't he?"

Should I kill myself?

I questioned deeply.

But that hologram glowing in front of me, my only hope in this scary scary world. It made me wonder of the chances I have here.

Let's… give it a try, at least? I consoled myself.

[Welcome to Raccoon City, Sir Ethe Evans!]

"How do I do it?" I questioned as I raised my hand, trying to touch that panel.

[System Initiation Quest: Get Dressed and enter the Racoon City Police Department!

Time Limit: 5 Hours

Failure to Complete the Quest: Will turn into a Zombie.

Rewards: Survival System Unlock. Beginner's Package]

"How motivating," I said sarcastically.

Standing up, I looked around to find out my stand point. I searched around the entire room hoping to find something or perhaps anything that could aid in my survival.

It was a 5 x 7 sq.meter room, so there wasn't much to search honestly. Just two lockers, a two cabinet table and lastly the bed where I slept.

Perhaps the system, or those who had put me in this world were kind enough, they had put a few key things that told me about my current situation. Especially with a note placed in the locker.

Dear Ethe Evans,

Firstly, we would like to apologise to you about putting you in your current situation. You may now know, but you died in your previous world by our mistake and since we could not afford to send you back to your real world, we decided to put our heads together to send you to a world that you know the best of.

We also noticed that this world was pretty cruel in comparison to what you lived in, hence we provided you with a [Survival System] that should aid you in every step of the way.

Since you are a gamer, we made it in the gaming format for your best convenience.

You can live in the world howsoever you want, and do anything you desire to.

Your identity is that of a 18-years old young police officer, reporting for duty on his first day.

Your shift begins today at 8 AM.

Your background identity does not exist. And as an added favour, nobody would question you about it. So you need not worry about it.

Lastly, we advise you to unlock your [System] as fast as possible since the outbreak events have already happened. Your starting position is about 1 day before the events of Resident Evil 3, and two days before Resident Evil 2.

Good luck.

"Good luck my ASS!!!"

-STOMP!!! STOMP!!!

Throwing the paper on the ground, I crushed it with my mighty force. I couldn't help but curse out loud!

After panting with rage for about a dozen seconds, I slowly calmed down.

I mean, what's the worst that could happen?

"I get trapped by the Umbrella and made a living experiment?"

"..."

"Fuck!"

I hate that I know so much now.

Sigh.

I looked at the clock on the wall to notice the time being 6:00 in the morning. Since I was stinking badly, I needed to take a shower at least.

"Let's get started, I suppose?" I spoke as I picked up a change of clothes and my cleaning gels before moving towards the bathroom.

Perhaps it's not as bad as it seems.
