The atmosphere inside the dungeon shifted instantly. The oppressive silence that followed the Hobgoblin's erasure was replaced by a sharp, vibrating tension. It was like two different storms were colliding in the narrow cavern—one made of endless shadows, the other of absolute nothingness.
Ren stood amidst the grey ash of the Chieftain, his eyes still swirling with the dark remnants of the [Void Devour]. Ten meters away, near the entrance, stood a young man. He wore a simple hoodie, but his presence was anything but simple. His eyes glowed with a faint, ghostly blue light that pierced through the darkness.
Sung Jin-Woo.
The 'weakest hunter' was gone. In his place stood someone who had crawled back from the edge of death, just like Ren. But while Jin-Woo smelled of the grave and shifting shadows, Ren felt like a hole in reality itself.
"You..." Jin-Woo's voice was steady, but his hand gripped his dagger tighter. He had come here on a penalty quest, expecting monsters, but he found something far more terrifying. "You're the one from the Double Dungeon. Ren?"
Ren didn't answer immediately. He stared at the ground beneath Jin-Woo's feet. The shadows there weren't behaving normally—they were twitching, whispering, and reaching out toward Ren, only to recoiled in fear as they touched the Void's aura.

"Ren is a name for the weak person I used to be," Ren replied, his voice echoing with a hollow, metallic ring. He began walking toward the exit, his footsteps leaving faint, decaying cracks on the stone floor. "Just like 'The Weakest Hunter' is a title you've outgrown, haven't you, Jin-Woo?"
Jin-Woo stepped into his path, his eyes narrowing. The System was screaming at him, marking Ren with a color he had never seen before—not red for an enemy, not green for an ally, but a flickering, unstable Black.
"What happened to you in that temple?" Jin-Woo asked. "The mana coming off you... it's not human. It's not even monster mana."
Ren stopped inches away from Jin-Woo. The air between them hissed as their auras clashed. "The System gave you a throne of shadows. It gave me a seat in the abyss. We are two sides of the same coin, Jin-Woo. But while your shadows need light to exist... my Void devours both."
Suddenly, the dungeon began to tremble. The [Administrator] was furious. Having failed to kill Ren with the Mutated Hobgoblin, it was now trying to collapse the entire instance to bury them both.

"We aren't finished," Ren said, his body beginning to blur as he activated [Void Veil]. "But for now, stay out of my way. Seoul isn't big enough for two Monarchs."
Before Jin-Woo could respond, Ren vanished into a swirl of black mist.
Outside the dungeon gate, Ren appeared in the quiet alleyway, breathing heavily. His level had jumped, but his body was still adjusting to the raw power of the Void. He looked up at the Seoul skyline, which was now filled with the mana signatures of hunters and gates.

Ren felt a cold satisfaction. He had met the protagonist of this world, and for the first time, the Shadow Monarch looked... uncertain.
"The hunt has just begun," Ren whispered, his eyes flashing purple as he disappeared into the crowd.
