Chapter 1 - The conception

It's daunting to even breathe before taking upon a task far grander than anything you have ever done. It really is.

Maybe that's why I couldn't breathe when I came to..

Or maybe I couldn't breathe because i wasn't meant to.

There was no way for me to know for certain.

Afterall I am nothing more than a shadow. A shadow chasing after a dream.

It's not even my dream. But i know it's a dream because everything is.

All fairy tales are at one point a dream. So maybe this too is a fairytale.

"Hey, what are thinking there? Or can you even think?"

A voice warm as the embrace of the sun called out to me.

" What are you?"

It asked.

"Hey can you understand what I am saying?"

It asked again.

I nodded.

"So you can't speak?"

It asked.

"I can speak. I choose not to."

"Ah I see. Weirdo for sure. Anyways I am freeing everyone in this prison, you included.

The king has gone mad, you are better off running into the wilderness before the madness reaches you."

Stating that the girl opened my prison cell and rushed off to open countless other.

I wonder, did she not notice I wasn't alive, or maybe she did but choose to ignore it.

Standing up , I looked around. My surroundings consists of nothing but suffering. The freshly freed prisoners were rushing, trampling on eachother to escape this hell.

I made my way to the exit, the blood from the trampled bodies now covering my feet. I narrowly avoided getting trapped myself. There were no guards in sight. They had abandoned us to strave to our deaths on the king's order.

Once outside I looked at the sky, it was evening. The sun was at the very edge of the horizon, it's eyes staring at our kingdom.

Where should I go to now. I wondered to myself.

I had a dream.

I wanted to accomplish that dream.

It wasn't my dream.

But i still wanted to fulfill it nonetheless.

As I thought to myself I heard a noise. A scream coming from behind me.

I turned to see a man holding a book. His eyes were locked onto me and his mouth was open, screaming.

On the cover of the book it said "Divine Words".

It was a book covering the teachings of the god.

A god that had abandoned us after the madness reached this kingdom.

"AHHHHHH"

The man kept screaming while staring at me and I kept looking at his direction for I had nothing else to do.

He took a step forward. I stood still. Another step . And then another.

He approached me, screaming still.

His breath was foul, rotten.

When he came close to me I noticed the blood on his shirt and mouth.

He must have eaten another prisoner.

"Good day sir."

I greeted him.

It was customary to do so, or atleast that's what I remembered.

His screaming stopped. His eyes turned to look at mine.

"Good day to you too."

"May I ask why were you screaming?" I asked , Intrigued by the sight I had witnessed.

The man looked at me, then at his book, and then again at me.

"What do you mean? Who was screaming? I wasn't screaming. I don't even have a mouth to scream."

I looked at him. Truly he was speaking the truth. He didn't have a mouth, not anymore he did not.

The madness had reached him. Or so I presumed to be the case as I couldn't find any other possible reasons to his behaviour.

" My mistake sir, i thought you were screaming, must've been my imagination."

The man looked at me. His face started to distort , where his mouth once was ,now laid a clean slab of wood and flesh. The face distorted and twisted.

In a mere second the man's face was gone. Now replaced with a face filled with only mouths, all screaming and chanting the name of god.

It was too late for that now though, he already went mad. No god could save him, especially not a god that abandoned us.

I looked at the creature now standing before me and rushed away. I didn't want to be eaten. It was a painful way to die in my experience.

I ran and I ran. The 'thing' didn't follow me. Instead it screamed the name of god. Chanting while its tounge pointed in my direction.

"AN UNDEAD IS SACRILEGE!"

Finally it said.

I didn't look back. I just ran.

If I died here i might not witness my dream.

So I ran as fast as I could.

I ran up the stairs, then across a bridge, down the stairs and finally reached the gate of the prison fortress.

Just as I did. It stood before me. In a flash , he approached me. His breath smelling like corpses.

"YOU ARE A DEFIANCE OF GOD"

"Please let me pass." I asked.

"YOU ARE A DEDICJA OF AGD"

It said.

I looked at it. I knew I could do nothing anymore. I was a weak undead. The very last of its kind.

I stood there and its tounge pierced my stomach, then my eyes, then my genitals, then my legs.

I felt each bit of the pain course through my still alive body.

Blood flowed through the wounds and onto the ground leaving a puddle.

And in an instant I was devoured whole.

Eaten.

And once again I became nothing.
