Chapter 20 - CH.20

A few minutes later.

Seven thousand five hundred enemy ships appeared around the battlefield in an instant.

Lasers fired simultaneously at the Asgardian fleet.

At the same time, hatches opened on numerous motherships, revealing new interstellar behemoths, with the Dark Order swarming right behind them.

The sudden arrival of the Black Order immediately eased the pressure on Thanos's main fleet.

Thanos, who had planned to act personally, abandoned the idea.

Although the Asgardian warriors were strong and outnumbered his forces, without their ships, they would eventually be annihilated.

Aboard his flagship, Odin surveyed the battlefield through projections. His eyes darkened as he watched his warriors die in alarming numbers.

Even for someone as hard-hearted as him, this sight pained him.

Asgardian populations reproduced slowly. Ordinary gods could only bear a child once a year. It took thirty years for a child to grow and another ten to become a trained warrior.

In other words, forty years to train a single soldier.

Elite warriors, like the Warriors Three, required hundreds of years of training. Royal bloodlines were even slower to mature.

Look at Thor, his own son—three centuries old and still prone to childishness.

Though ruthless and cold-blooded, Odin could not allow his warriors to die so recklessly. Their loss would weaken Asgard's rule.

Gripping the Eternal Spear, Odin flew out of the flagship. A beam of pure energy shot from the artifact, racing at nearly light speed across a million kilometers of space, striking the enemy fleet.

The escort ships in Thanos's fleet lit their shields immediately.

But even the strongest frigate shields could not stop a Celestial-class being.

In an instant, Odin's energy blast pierced through a frigate's defenses, erupting into a massive fireball.

"Boom..."

Though no sound could travel through the vacuum, the sheer scale of the explosions was enough for all to imagine the devastation.

Odin shifted targets, destroying frigate after frigate.

In just thirty seconds, more than a dozen frigates were reduced to sparks—until a massive frigate finally resisted his attack.

Odin gritted his teeth and increased the spear's output. The beam expanded from half a meter in diameter to a full meter.

Under such immense energy, the large frigate was obliterated.

Clearly, no ordinary ship could withstand a Celestial-level attack.

Just as Odin prepared to continue, a purple figure appeared. Its weapon spun rapidly, intercepting the energy surge.

The shockwaves scattered harmlessly, dissipating into the void.

Odin's pupils narrowed.

He had met his match.

"Who… are you?"

Sound might not travel through space, but at their level, words carried.

The figure stopped the blast. Calmly, it said, "I am Thanos."

Odin's expression darkened immediately.

Even though the Milky Way had been isolated, Odin remained a member of the Council of Gods and could track cosmic news. Thanos was the most notorious figure in recent centuries.

Ruthless. Powerful. Tyrannical. His rule left those under him with no freedom whatsoever.

Thanos had mocked the gods of the Panlong Galaxy for failing to defeat even one Eternal, and now he had invaded Odin's own domain.

"Thanos," Odin said, voice low but firm, "if you leave now, I can forgive and forget."

A mocking smile spread across Thanos's face.

"Forgive? And you have the right to say that?"

Odin's face darkened. He would make sure this interloper understood divine wrath.

Before he could speak further, Thor, who had been reveling in the fight, growled in indignation.

He swung Mjolnir and shouted, "Mortal! How dare you speak to the King of Gods like that? You must be tired of living!"

Thor had grown up believing himself superior, treated like royalty wherever he went. Other races were ants in his eyes, and now one dared to insult his father? Fury surged through him.

As he lunged forward, the Warriors Three moved even faster.

"Hey, you big purple monster! Apologize to our God-King now, or we'll kill you!"

"Yes, kneel and maybe we'll spare you!"

"Purple Potato Monster! Don't be ungrateful. We are the famous Warriors Three of Asgard!"

Thanos ignored them, his gaze fixed solely on Odin.

To him, only the old man with one foot in the grave was worth his attention; everyone else was beneath notice.

Enraged at being ignored, the Warriors Three decided to teach him a lesson themselves.

They charged, weapons in hand, straight toward Thanos.

Odin squinted but did not intervene. Clearly, he intended for the Warriors Three to test Thanos's strength.

The Warriors Three were:

Fandral: blond, blue-eyed, wielding a longsword, the strongest of the three.

Volstark: enormous, over two meters tall, wielding a double-headed axe, slightly less strong.

Hogan: the weakest, not fully an Asgardian god, but gifted with mystical magic and wielding a mace.

Each had reached planetary-level strength, ranking as second-tier among Asgardian gods. No wonder they carried themselves with such arrogance.
