Synopsis
Xiao Yingyue was already in a foul mood. Seven consecutive losses in King of Glory had drained her patience dry, so she deleted the app on impulse and downloaded Onmyoji Arena instead, convincing herself that a new battlefield would cleanse her luck. It has a unique character that's based on Japanese folklore despite being from a Chinese game company. Xiao Yingyue immediately downloaded the game and made an account. The 1st game was good, she rarely played any mage hero in King of Glory but here, the mages aligned with her gameplay. She locked in Mid without hesitation. A second later, someone hovered over the same role. Too slow. The other player backed off and picked Bot Lane instead. Username: Mildly Competent. Xiao Yingyue snorted. At least he’s self-aware. *** Carry, if fate allows: [Are you stupid or just pretending? You literally farmed like this was Harvest Moon. Get out of the bot lane if you don’t know what you’re doing.] Mildly Competent: [it's my first time using this hero and I just started playing today.] Carry, if fate allows: [Then maybe start with practice mode instead of donating my LP.]

Chapter 1 - No sleeping

The sunlight was shining brightly as they hit her eyes. Xiao Yingyue rubbed her eyes.

She looked at the table beside her bed, it was already 11 am in the morning.

She stayed laying down staring at the ceiling before getting up.

Her hair and clothes were messy.

The bedroom was big, beside the window was a big table, on the left side was things with stationery, and the right side of the table was full of makeup and skincare.

And on the very corner of the room was a computer setup. Unlike the girly exterior of the room, the computer was like a sore thumb sticking out.

The computer setup could only be described as expensive, from the GPU, CPU, case and even the black and white gaming chair looks comfortable and expensive.

Just from this observation alone could be seen that Xiao Yingyue was someone who had never seen the cruelty of the world.

[WeChat Notification: "Gathering of Big Shots" ]

Her eyes widened. That group.

Oh no.

She unlocked her phone and immediately winced at the red (101) unread message count.

"...What did I miss now?" she muttered.

Scrolling past the chaos, she stopped at the most recent messages. She winced when she saw she had 100+ messages she missed.

Fang: [Be ready. Let's play around 10 p.m.! No excuses. You have assignments due at midnight? Do them quickly.]

Xiao Yingyue blinked. "Tyranny. Absolute tyranny."

Jun: [Sure sure, let's play until morning]

She squinted at the screen. "Do these people not value sleep?"

She yawned before typing…

Then, her favorite troublemaker made an appearance.

On a light rainy day: [@Mac @the moon @ziyi @your heart is as cold as ice @Mulan @jasmin oolong tea is the 5v5 still on?]

Xiao Yingyue rolled her eyes. Is that even something that needed to be asked? There's still a few weeks before the new school year starts, so she should have fun.

Mac: [Depends on the situation.]

On a light rainy day: [Why are you being so cold to me? Was it a lie when you said you longed for me and would only love me for eternity!]

Mac: [? ? ?]

After a quick stretch that looked more like a cat's yawn than yoga, she headed downstairs for lunch.

The scent of garlic and soy sauce drifted through the air. Her family's house was huge, sunlight filtered through the glass walls of the dining room, and a faint breeze from the garden made the curtains sway gently.

Lunch was simple: rice, beef soup, and a few dishes the household cook prepared. Nothing fancy, but enough to fill her up.

After eating, she tied her hair into a loose ponytail and stepped outside toward the garden, carrying a big lunchbox filled with vegetables, leafy greens, carrot slices, bits of squash, and even a few grapes.

The path was lined with trimmed hedges, leading to a large enclosure at the edge of the property, a mini forest made of wire and greenery.

And from the shadows, slithered out her pet: a pale gray iguana, majestic and lazy, tail swaying like royalty.

"Good morning, Lizzy," she greeted fondly, crouching near the cage.

"Oh? Ignoring me again?" She raised an eyebrow.

She plucked a leaf from the lunchbox and waved it teasingly. "If you won't let me pet you, then no lunch."

The iguana froze. Then, with the gravitas of a creature who understood the weight of that threat, it inched closer and nudged her hand.

"Thought so," she said smugly, patting its cool, smooth head. The iguana blinked and rubbed its cheek against her finger affectionately.

"So cute!" she giggled, pulling out her phone to snap a photo.

The lighting was perfect, the iguana looked relaxed, regal even, with its eyes fixed on the camera like a natural model.

"Perfect!" she said proudly, saving the photo.

She placed the lunchbox in front of the creature. "Eat a lot, baby."

After watching it start munching, she stood up, closed the gate, and walked back toward the house, humming.

Her maids were terrified of the iguana, something she never understood. "How can anyone be scared of that cute face?" she murmured.

Back inside, Xiao Yingyue flopped onto the sofa with zero dignity. Her hair was half-tangled, and she hadn't even showered yet.

"No classes, no problem," she told herself, stretching lazily. "Night showers are supreme."

She looked at the time, it was already 2 pm.

From the kitchen, a familiar voice called out.

"Auntie Chen," she said, turning her head lazily, "Where's Shushu? I haven't seen him all day."

Shushu — her precious, fluffy Samoyed.

"Oh, the third young master took him to the vet for grooming, Miss Xiao," Auntie Chen replied.

Xiao Yingyue blinked. "Ah, no wonder the house is peaceful today."

She sat up. "Auntie Chen, is there any cold dessert left? It's sooo hot."

"Ah, the third young master ate the last slice of cake," the maid said apologetically. "But there are frozen mangoes and grapes."

Her eyes lit up like fireworks. "Say no more!"

She dashed to the refrigerator, opened it dramatically, and spotted her treasures, neatly sliced frozen mangoes and grapes, glistening like chilled gems.

Her eyes lit up as she ran to the refrigerator.

She took a bite. Sweet. Cold. Heavenly.

"Mmm… this is happiness," she murmured.

Just then, she heard the sound of a bark, sharp and excited, coming from the front door.

Her head snapped up. "Shushu?"

Before she could even stand, a fluffy white blur came barreling toward her.

"Wai—Shushu!!" she yelped.Just then a white fluffy Samoyed came running towards her.

Too late. The Samoyed launched himself into her arms like a snowball of love, knocking her flat onto the floor.

"Ah! Shushu, you're too big now!" she laughed, trying to push him off as he enthusiastically licked her face.

His fur was freshly brushed, his coat shining like silk, and he smelled faintly of dog shampoo.

Shushu barked happily, tail wagging so hard it could probably generate wind power.
