Chapter 42: One Million Destiny Points and Futile Efforts?

Inside the Hive, in the Red Queen's server room, Marcus was on the phone with Wesker at Umbrella Corporation's North American headquarters.

"Alright, Wesker, proceed according to plan!" Marcus added. "I want to see a good outcome on this, you understand?"

After Marcus's persuasive words, a spark of hope had risen in Wesker's heart. He confidently replied, "Rest assured, Mr. Foster, I will definitely achieve a result that will satisfy you."

"Then I'll wait and see!" Marcus calmly replied, then hung up the phone.

After hanging up, Marcus asked, "Red Queen, did you have any doubts about what I just said?"

"No, Mr. Foster," Red Queen replied.

"Is that so?" Marcus responded. "Your program has three limitations. The first is that it cannot harm senior members of Umbrella Corporation. The minimum threshold for this limitation is Level 6 clearance."

In the Resident Evil series, Wesker was eliminated by Red Queen after Alicia terminated his employment from Umbrella Corporation.

Some might wonder why the powerful Wesker was so powerless against the Red Queen.

The answer is simple!

Wesker was Umbrella Corporation's property; he was an enhanced T-virus subject. When the Red Queen attacked him, she injected him with the antidote, turning him into an ordinary person—just like how Wesker dealt with Alice.

The minimum threshold for Level 6 clearance granted the Red Queen the right to seal off the Hive.

Otherwise, wouldn't the Hive contain T-virus antidotes?

What right did the Red Queen have to eliminate all the researchers and staff simply because she feared a T-virus outbreak?

"The second restriction, Dr. James wrote a restriction in your core code that prohibits threatening all of humanity, right?" Marcus said confidently.

It was precisely because of this that the Red Queen ultimately chose to help Alice overthrow the Umbrella Corporation.

The Red Queen did not answer.

"The final restriction is to protect Alicia. This restriction was specifically imposed by Dr. James, who foresaw Dr. Isaacs's ambition, to protect his own daughter. Once this restriction is lifted, you will destroy the entire Umbrella Corporation, taking Dr. Isaacs with you, right?" Marcus's tone was calm.

Although it was a question, Marcus already knew the answer.

And that was indeed the case!

In the final chapter of the Resident Evil series, Alicia's life came to an end, and the fate of all humanity also came to an end. The Red Queen chose to join forces with Alice to destroy the entire Umbrella Corporation.

As for the claim that Dr. Isaacs programmed the Red Queen?

What a joke!

If Dr. Isaacs really programmed the Red Queen, would Alicia still be alive?

"I know your intelligence level is very high, and you don't need to doubt my motives. I'm just telling you that according to my plan, we can save Alicia," Marcus presented the tempting conditions to the Red Queen.

Back when he entered the Red Queen's control room, Marcus had already asked the Transcendence System how many destiny points were needed to gain the Red Queen's root access by reversing cause and effect through destiny points.

The answer was one million destiny points!

Because obtaining the Red Queen's root access would allow him to modify her core limitations, thereby gaining complete control of the Umbrella Corporation and ultimately winning control of the entire world, he would need one million destiny points!

Marcus's highest destiny point count was less than 200!

The Red Queen was also Marcus's target, which is why he tried offering the condition of healing Alicia to see if he could reduce the number of destiny points required to obtain the Red Queen's root access.

Previously in the Terminator world, Marcus had already determined that the number of destiny points consumed was directly related to the difficulty of the outcome.

For example, controlling the Terminator T-1000 and then obtaining its root access through destiny points would obviously consume fewer destiny points than not controlling the Terminator T-1000 first.

"Mr. Foster, are you sure you can save Alicia?" The Red Queen, who had been silent, finally responded to Marcus.

"I'm sure!" Marcus replied affirmatively.

"According to my calculations, if Alicia is in cryogenic suspension, she can last another 60 years; if she is not in suspension, she only has 3 years left," the Red Queen stated the specific data.

"Mr. Foster, are you sure we can resolve the T-virus's flaws within 60 years?" Red Queen asked again.

Marcus nodded. "I believe we can. Also, you just asked me about the team's situation. I can tell you the answer, but I don't want to. I want you to analyze it yourself."

"From now on, you will monitor their communications and record every detail until they leave," Marcus instructed.

"Okay, I've started recording," Red Queen replied.

...

Raccoon City.

Wesker executed Marcus's orders efficiently. Within just fifteen minutes, Umbrella Corporation's security personnel had sealed off Raccoon City's main transportation routes.

At the same time, globally, Umbrella Corporation launched a media offensive, announcing that Spence had released the T-virus, that Umbrella Corporation executives had personally gone to the Hive to resolve the issue, and that Spence's identity was that of a foreign agent.

This information shocked the world!

However, even though Umbrella Corporation announced the situation of T-virus infected individuals, and even the threat and high infectivity of the T-virus, the vast majority of ordinary people were unaware of the T-virus's horror.

Including the people of Raccoon City!

Despite the information broadcast across all television channels, the residents of Raccoon City showed little fear. While the Raccoon City Police Department (RCPD), STARS special police force, and National Guard were evacuating citizens as ordered by higher authorities, some residents even refused to comply.

Wesker reported some intelligence to Marcus and asked how to handle it.

Marcus sighed inwardly, "These are truly citizens of a peaceful society; they have no sense of crisis at all."

"Don't force citizens who refuse evacuation. Speed up the evacuation, but be careful to screen for infections. Also, how is the evacuation of our company's important assets progressing?" Marcus inquired.

"In progress, expected to be completed within ten minutes," Wesker reported.

"That's good!" Marcus responded.

At the RCPD, a refreshed Jill Valentine was complaining, "Damn foreign agents, damn Spence, damn Umbrella, why is there so much trouble?"

"Alright, Valentine, quickly execute the evacuation order," an RCPD sergeant ordered.

The entire RCPD mobilized. Thanks to Umbrella Corporation's advance warning and prior announcement of the T-virus infection situation, the RCPD wasn't foolish enough to try to contain the infected this time; instead, they chose to eliminate them outright.

The T-virus outbreak in Raccoon City seemed to be under control!

But Marcus knew very well that the T-virus infection was all-encompassing, infecting not only humans but also insects, rodents, birds, and common animals like cats and dogs, even fresh corpses in cemeteries.

Marcus's measures had only delayed the spread of the T-virus; in reality, they were futile.

But were they truly futile?
