Chapter 41 - Chapter 41: Marcus's True Purpose!

Chapter 41: Marcus's True Purpose!

In the original storyline of Resident Evil, the Umbrella Corporation was practically synonymous with incompetence in handling the T-virus outbreak in Raccoon City.

Their clumsy handling resembled that of a third-rate small company!

Of course, this was partly due to the fact that the Umbrella Corporation's top management had orchestrated a world-destroying conspiracy, making their handling of Raccoon City seem incredibly inept.

Marcus wanted to change this.

Because Marcus wanted to gain more destiny points, and also because Marcus wanted to act with a clear conscience.

Marcus wasn't naive, but he wasn't a completely evil person either.

Although the fate of the Resident Evil world was sealed at the time of the T-virus outbreak, Marcus was still prepared to do his best, even if it was just to put his mind at ease.

"Yes, Mr. Foster, your orders have been carried out. It is estimated that in three hours, the company's security department and the U.S. military will seal off the entire Raccoon City," Wesker responded.

"Too slow!" Marcus scoffed. "I'm only giving you fifteen minutes. I need to block off Raccoon City's main transportation routes within fifteen minutes, including highways, railways, and air and water transport."

Wesker secretly breathed a sigh of relief. When he first heard Marcus give him only fifteen minutes, he initially thought Marcus was deliberately setting him up for failure.

Fortunately, Marcus clarified that it was only a blockade of transportation routes, not the entire city of Raccoon City.

"No problem!" Wesker quickly replied.

Wesker was not currently infected with the T-virus; he was merely a trusted subordinate of Dr. Isaacs under the Umbrella Corporation.

"Once Raccoon City's transportation routes are blocked, prohibit any personnel from entering Raccoon City. At the same time, after the blockade is complete, notify the Raccoon City authorities of the information about the T-virus infected individuals. Have the Raccoon City Police Department, STARS special forces, and the National Guard jointly manage Raccoon City, and relocate all citizens to the outskirts of Raccoon City for screening," Marcus explained the plan.

"I need you to complete this part of the plan within two hours at the latest after the blockade is established," Marcus added.

Wesker readily agreed, "Okay, Mr. Foster, I will handle it."

"There's one more thing. After the blockade of the main transportation routes is established, broadcast information about the T-virus infected on all television channels in Raccoon City, so that the general public understands the threat of the T-virus infected and how to deal with them," Marcus added another plan.

"This..." Wesker hesitated. "If we proactively disclose the T-virus infection, our company will face immense public pressure and legal liabilities."

"These are minor issues!" Marcus calmly replied. "Completely secure the company's core operations and all important assets. If anyone causes us trouble, arrange the best legal team."

Marcus chuckled. "The law won't be of any use once Dr. Isaacs's plan succeeds, will it?"

Wesker breathed a sigh of relief. "Yes, Mr. Foster is right."

"Are you wondering why I'm doing these seemingly counterproductive tasks? Dr. Isaacs's plan would be easier to execute if we didn't have to worry about anything, right?" Marcus countered.

Wesker remained silent. "I wouldn't dare question you."

"You just wouldn't dare, not that you don't wonder, right?" Marcus sighed. "Alright, it's fine to tell you. Our plan is to control the whole world, but what if some slip through the net?"

"Hmm?" Wesker asked, puzzled.

"What if a perfect candidate for the T-virus exists?" Marcus calmly explained. "There are seven billion people in the world. At your level, you should know what a perfect candidate for the T-virus would be like, right?"

"Does it really exist?" Wesker asked, slightly nervous.

"Let's assume a perfect candidate exists. This perfect candidate would usher in a new era for humanity, becoming our best test subject. But what if they are our enemy?" Marcus pressed.

"A perfect candidate for the T-virus would unlock unparalleled strength, agility, and regenerative abilities, and might even unlock abilities like psychic manipulation and telekinesis," Marcus seemed to be talking to himself.

In the Resident Evil series, Alice even had a record of using psychic powers to interfere with and destroy satellites.

This was Marcus's biggest goal in entering the Resident Evil world!

As for using the Resident Evil world as a stable logistical base, that was just a secondary benefit.

What Marcus truly wanted was the extraordinary power of a perfect candidate for the T-virus!

"So you understand now, right?" Marcus sighed. "Dr. Isaacs's plan to destroy the world, besides making our company the hegemon of the new world, is also to use seven billion people as test subjects to identify the perfect T-virus candidates."

"If we want the perfect T-virus candidates to willingly cooperate with our research, we must appear as the good guys. We can't be the destroyers of the world; we must be the saviors of the world, understand?" Marcus questioned again.

Wesker took a deep breath. "I understand!"

"Oh, and there's one more crucial thing. I'll send you two videos: one of Spence releasing the T-virus, and another of me personally handling the T-virus situation in the Hive. Use the company's resources to release both videos to shape public opinion, portraying Spence as a foreign agent, indicating that hostile forces want to destroy the world, and our company is doing everything in its power to stop it," Marcus revealed the key propaganda tactic.

Wesker responded admiringly, "Mr. Foster, you've considered everything very thoroughly!"

"Execute the order!" Marcus ignored Wesker's flattery. "Wesker, think about the situation in the New World, think about the company's position there. I hope that in the New World, you will also be a member of our company, a valued member. I promise you, the New World will have a place for you!"

A spark ignited in Wesker's heart. When he was under Dr. Isaacs, Dr. Isaacs only treated him as a subordinate and never discussed these matters of the New World with him.

But now, Marcus had opened a door to a new world for him!

"I understand. Thank you for the opportunity, Mr. Foster. I will definitely handle the tasks assigned to me well," Wesker said carefully, indicating his willingness to align himself with Marcus.

Marcus understood Wesker's meaning. He calmly replied, "We are all working hard for the company, we are all working hard for a better future for all humanity!"

At this point, Marcus added, "Red Queen, do you think I'm right?"

Red Queen responded crisply, "Mr. Foster is absolutely right."
