Chapter 9 - Chapter 9: Dragon Clan Genealogy

Sang Jie sat on the bed, wolfing down the pork hock that Cheng Sui had just ordered, his eyes brimming with tears.

"A Sui, you don't know what kind of life I've been living in the Equipment Department for the past half-month. I slept in a sleeping bag, ate compressed biscuits, and spent all day in front of that construction platform."

Cheng Sui looked at Sang Jie, not knowing whether to laugh or cry.

It was as if the child hadn't had a full meal in ages.

Sang Jie's tone suddenly shifted, and he raised the pork hock, pointing it at Cheng Sui.

"During my days in the Equipment Department, I also checked the Night Watchman Forum.

On the first day of school, I knew you weren't an ordinary person, A Sui. Indeed, a chicken scale is not something found in a pond; once it encounters wind and clouds, it will fester."

"It's 'golden scales are not things found in a pond; once they encounter wind and rain, they transform into dragons.' Alright, I'm not talking to you anymore, I'm going to bed."

After speaking, Cheng Sui lay down on the lower bunk, closed his eyes, and began to rest.

Sang Jie originally wanted to ask Cheng Sui who won between him and Chu Zihang today, but seeing that Cheng Sui had already laid down, he retracted his words and continued gnawing on the pork hock.

Cheng Sui opened one eye, glanced at Sang Jie, and seeing the boy engrossed in gnawing the hock, the corners of his mouth curved slightly upwards.

At 1:30 PM, Cheng Sui woke up from his bed, greeted Sang Jie, quickly washed his face, and walked towards the teaching building.

Cassell College has a course personally taught by the Headmaster—Dragon Clan Genealogy, which is essentially the history of dragons.

Dragon Clan Genealogy is not scheduled on the course timetable, but Cassell College requires every student to take this course before graduation.

So in the Dragon Clan Genealogy class, you can see students from freshman to senior year, making for a lively scene.

Cheng Sui had already finished all other courses, with only Dragon Clan Genealogy remaining.

It wasn't because he was slacking off, but because Angers was too popular at school, leading to a large number of people choosing his class. Some even intentionally failed just to take Angers' class again.

With many people and few seats, they could only resort to a lottery system.

Cheng Sui was that unlucky person, failing to get selected for three consecutive years, finally getting a guaranteed spot in his senior year.

Cheng Sui arrived relatively early, and there were many empty seats in the classroom. If it were in the past, Cheng Sui would definitely have found a seat in the back to slack off.

But this was Angers' class, and that old man's eyes were as sharp as an eagle's; no small movement could escape his sight.

In the Dragon Clan Genealogy class, sitting in the back row was no different from sitting in the front row.

Cheng Sui casually found an empty spot, sat down, and took out his phone, planning to browse the Night Watchman Forum to pass the time.

Suddenly, there was a commotion at the door. Cheng Sui looked towards the classroom entrance and saw a dense crowd gathered, subtly centering around one person.

Caesar was the first to enter the classroom, his smooth golden hair attracting all eyes.

He walked through the aisle of the tiered classroom, heading straight for the first row, like an ancient monarch's coronation ceremony.

The crowd in the classroom also stirred, as Caesar's recent challenge to Cheng Sui had caused quite a stir within the academy, and many people were looking forward to this match.

Cheng Sui paid no attention to this, remaining in his seat.

After the battle with Chu Zihang, he had a good grasp of his combat strength and wasn't worried about fighting Caesar.

However, he was quite busy lately, with a physical test and the 3E Exam in a couple of days, so he wanted to postpone the duel for now.

Soon, the bell rang for class.

An old man with neatly combed silver-white hair walked into the classroom. His crisp black suit accentuated his tall figure, and a dark red rose was pinned to his lapel.

As soon as the old man entered the classroom, the crowd instantly fell silent.

Cassell College is an elite institution, and most people here are self-important, believing themselves to be favored by heaven, the chosen ones.

Therefore, classroom discipline became a headache for all teachers; there were always a few troublemakers in every class.

But this problem clearly didn't exist in Angers' class.

This old man, over one hundred and thirty years old, had conquered everyone with his demeanor and ability.

"Alright, let's begin the class."

Angers took out a textbook and began today's lesson... "Ramesses II, a highly influential pharaoh of the New Kingdom period in ancient Egypt, known to later generations as 'Ramesses the Great,' whose reign is considered one of the golden ages of the Egyptian Empire."

Angers walked around the classroom, his left hand in his pocket, his right hand holding the textbook.

"During his reign, he constructed numerous religious buildings, including the city of Pi-Ramesses, the Abu Simbel Temple, and the Karnak Temple. Ramesses II was appointed Regent Prince at the age of fourteen and subsequently reigned for 67 years."

"Our research has found that the buildings constructed during the early part of his reign were normal structures, while those built in the later period contained a large amount of dragon language."

Caesar, sitting in the first row, raised his hand.

"Headmaster Angers, to my knowledge, Ramesses II had 8 queens and over 100 children. His first wife was Nefertari, for whom he built a dedicated temple next to the Abu Simbel Temple to express his love. Do you think it's possible for Dragons and Humans to fall in love?"

Angers put down the book and leaned against the podium. "A good question, but it seems unrelated to the lesson. However, I can understand that you young people enjoy such topics. I hear you're pursuing a freshman recently. Good luck, student Caesar."

Good-natured laughter filled the classroom. Caesar slowly lowered his hand, scratching his head a little awkwardly.

"However, I'm happy to answer this question. The current mainstream view of the Secret Party believes that the awakening of a Dragon King is a process, and before that, a Dragon King is no different from an ordinary person," Angers pushed up his glasses and continued, "During this period, a Dragon King's emotions are also like those of humans; they will fall in love with someone. But when memories awaken, decades of human emotion will instantly vanish under the deluge of tens of thousands of years of draconic memories, and the Dragon's memories will dominate their thoughts."

"Of course, this is just the mainstream view. Nefertari died around the 24th year of Ramesses II's reign. The heartbroken Ramesses II built a luxurious tomb for her, with murals depicting her journey to the underworld and her communion with deities. Although Ramesses II had other queens later, Nefertari's status was never replaced. He continued to mention her name in his constructions throughout his remaining life. Quite romantic, isn't it?"

Laughter and drawn-out "ohs~" echoed through the classroom.

Angers walked back to the podium, still smiling.

"However, these are all legends. The true historical facts are impossible to verify. It's best to let romantic legends remain in people's imaginations."

Angers' smile faded, and something seemed to burn deep in his eyes.

"What I want to say is, since the establishment of Cassell College, countless predecessors have shown us with their blood that the conflict between Dragons and Hybrids is irreconcilable. No matter how beautiful the legends are, we must not forget the reality we have experienced. Slaying dragons is the best way to honor those heroes."
