Chapter 10 - Chapter 10: Nono, the Witch

The atmosphere in the classroom grew serious, and everyone straightened their backs like soldiers awaiting inspection.

Cassell College informed all freshmen during orientation that the college has had one and only one purpose since its inception—Dragon Slaying.

Angers smiled and picked up the textbook again: "However, all of that is still far off for you. Right now, what you should be doing is enjoying your wonderful campus life, perhaps by flirting with some younger female students."

Angers lightly coughed, quieting the commotion in the classroom.

"The Battle of Kadesh was the most famous battle of Ramesses II's reign. This ambitious Pharaoh sought to restore Egyptian hegemony in the Syria region, while the Hittite Empire had already established a powerful presence there. The two sides clashed fiercely over control of Syria, and Kadesh, as a strategic location, became the focal point of their struggle."

"The Hittite army employed the tactic of luring the enemy deep, sending spies to feed false intelligence to the Egyptian army, claiming that the main Hittite force had not yet arrived. Ramesses II, trusting the intelligence, led his vanguard deep into enemy territory, arriving near Kadesh. The Hittite army seized the opportunity to launch a surprise attack, putting the Egyptian vanguard on the defensive."

Angers looked around, scrutinizing every student: "Ramesses II, who had already awakened his Dragon power at the time, attempted to destroy the Hittite army using Kotodama. But as we all know, the final result was a draw, and they signed the 'Egyptian-Hittite Treaty,' which is the earliest existing international peace treaty in human history, and a milestone in the history of the struggle between Hybrids and Dragons."

"So, what means did the Hittite army use to restrict Ramesses II's Kotodama?"

Angers' sharp gaze swept over the students one by one, finally stopping on Cheng Sui.

"Cheng Sui, please stand up and answer."

As soon as Angers finished speaking, everyone looked up in unison, following his gaze toward Cheng Sui.

This person, who recently generated the most buzz at Cassell College, had only been seen by many students in videos.

They hadn't expected him to be in the same class as them; they definitely had to see his true face.

Cold sweat beaded on Cheng Sui's back. He had been completely engrossed in the selfies of beautiful women on the Night Watchman Forum and hadn't heard a word Angers said.

Rising stiffly, Cheng Sui felt the helplessness of being caught by the teacher for zoning out during class.

"Teacher, what was the question again?"

Angers seemed to notice Cheng Sui's embarrassment. His eyes held a smile, as if he were looking at his younger self, and he chuckled: "It seems our Day of Freedom victor this year isn't very interested in my class. Am I, an old man, no longer popular with the youth?"

Laughter erupted in the classroom. Everyone understood that Angers was making a joke, not lamenting his age.

After all, in this school, Angers was the undisputed leader and the goal everyone strove to catch up to.

"Then I will repeat my question: In the Battle of Kadesh, what means did the Hittite army use to restrict Ramesses II's Kotodama?"

After Angers finished speaking, he placed the textbook on the podium and watched Cheng Sui with a mischievous glint in his eyes.

Cheng Sui's cold sweat intensified.

What Kadesh, what combination—he had absolutely no idea.

"The Hittite army feigned defeat, luring Ramesses II to a prepared location where they had set up a large number of Alchemy Array Diagrams. These diagrams disrupted the local elemental composition, greatly extending the casting time of Ramesses II's Kotodama. Both sides fought until dusk, suffering heavy losses, and ultimately had to negotiate peace."

A clear and pleasant female voice came from beside him, and Cheng Sui looked toward the source.

The girl's profile was clear and sharp. A delicate silver Four-leaf Clover earring adorned her earlobe, and her dark red long hair swayed slightly with her movements.

Nono? When did she sit next to me?

Forget it, now is not the time to think about that. I need to answer the question first, or standing here will be too awkward.

"The Hittite army used Alchemy Array Diagrams to disrupt the local elemental composition, delaying the release time of Ramesses II's Kotodama."

"It seems our Day of Freedom victor, Cheng Sui, did not study his lessons properly," Angers said with a smile.

Cheng Sui's face stiffened. He turned to look at Nono beside him and found that the girl had a successful, mischievous smile playing on her lips.

Cheng Sui's mouth twitched slightly. As expected of Nono, the Witch. He shouldn't have trusted her so easily.

"The Hittite army did indeed set up large and complex Alchemy Array Diagrams there, trying to use them to disrupt Ramesses II's Kotodama release. However, the power of the Dragon King far exceeded their imagination. Ramesses II summoned a massive amount of elemental force, scattering the spiritual energy of the Alchemy Array Diagrams, meaning the diagrams had absolutely no impact on the battle."

Angers waved for Cheng Sui to sit down and continued explaining: "The fundamental reason the Hittite army was able to fight the Ancient Egyptian Army until dusk was that a brave Archer shot an arrow made of Philosopher's Stone into Ramesses II's abdomen. This spiritual element, which is highly toxic to Dragons, successfully weakened Ramesses II, and only then did it affect the course of the battle."

"After the war, he promoted the battle as a major victory through inscriptions and reliefs, greatly enhancing his prestige..."

Angers did not dwell on this interlude; after explaining the question, he continued with the lecture.

Nono leaned close to Cheng Sui, whispering quietly: "I say, Senior Brother Cheng, aren't you about to go intern with Professor Mans at the Abu Simbel Temple? How can you not pay attention to this period of Egyptian history? Do you want to repeat a year~ too~?"

Nono deliberately elongated the sound of 'repeat a year'.

Cheng Sui rolled his eyes at her and retorted irritably: "First, I haven't decided whether to intern in Egypt yet. Second, who are you? Are we close? You just started calling me Senior Brother. Third, do you know how awful your behavior just was? If I fail Genealogy, I'll stick pins in your voodoo doll."

Nono smiled slyly, her eyes curving into pretty crescents, her long eyelashes lowered.

Cheng Sui's breath hitched.

I have to admit, this witch was stunningly beautiful. No wonder Lu Mingfei was so devoted to her.

But how could a hero like me be compared to someone like Lu Mingfei!

Cheng Sui ignored Nono's attempt to act cute and said fiercely: "Acting cute is ineffective. If you keep this up, I'll report you to Principal Angers."

Nono "Tch'd" and pouted.

"Nono, Cassell College freshman in Dragon History. Nice to meet you," Nono said, extending her hand generously.

Cheng Sui briefly shook hands with Nono: "Cheng Sui, Cassell College senior in Electronic Information Engineering. I'm not happy to meet you."

Nono laughed even harder. "Senior, you're more interesting than I imagined! I originally just wanted to check out what kind of person Professor Mans' future team member was, and it turned out to be quite fun."

"..."

As Nono and Cheng Sui talked, the class unconsciously drew to a close.

Angers glanced at the Blancpain Villeret wristwatch on his wrist: "That concludes today's lesson. I look forward to seeing you all again."

"Wait a moment!"

Caesar, who was sitting in the front row, suddenly raised his hand, attracting everyone's attention.
