Chapter 9 - DOCTOR'S APPOINTMENT

It was her first day of being someone's girlfriend and Elise could not contain the joy that bubbled inside of her. Even though she felt so dizzy and weaker than usual, she still dressed up as she got ready for the appointment she had today with her doctor.

She wore the same outfit she had come here with a few days ago since that's the only good outfit she had now. Good thing she had kept it dry.

Elise picked up her worn-out purse and stepped out of her room.

Her hair was well combed and tied with a ribbon. She applied what she thought to be a makeup. A pink lip gloss to her lips and brushed her lashes which were naturally long and beautiful.

"Where to Miss Elise?" John asked stepping out behind his master who didn't spare her a glance.

"I'm going for..."

"We're late John." Lucien suddenly interrupted and his assistant closed the distance between them quickly.

"You should come with us, Elise. We'll drop you off before we leave."

Elise nodded with a small smile. She was relieved. With how weak her body felt, she doubted she could walk all the way out of the estate on her own.

When she reached outside, she saw John step into the passenger seat and Lucien into the back.

Elise walked over, but before she could enter, Lucien closed the door.

For a second, she thought it was a mistake. She just stood there wondering what was happening, until the back window slowly rolled down.

Lucien didn't look at her right away. His gaze swept over her, quick and unreadable. Then a card flew out and landed at her feet, splashing lightly in the mud.

"Once you're done," he said coolly, "go shopping. We're going out tonight."

Elise sighed and picked the card off the floor. She cleaned the mud stains on her jeans and smiled. What a thoughtful boyfriend. At least he gave her money.

Lucien did say his way of dating was different from the ordinary, it was normal for him to behave this way.

She smiled, holding her purse close, and she started walking.

By the time she reached the front gate of the estate, her legs were trembling. She flagged down a cab and slid into the back seat, exhausted.

"Hospital," she said softly.

On reaching there, Elise placed her card by the counter and waited to be called by her specialist. While she sat in the waiting area, she realized she was the only one waiting there.

Once upon a time, there used to be plenty of people sitting here with her. She was the oldest and everyone looked up to her. If painful, none of the children who greeted her made it and now, she's the last one standing.

She smiled. How cruel life has been cruel to her since she was a child.

While she waited, she heard screams coming from a room in a corner. Doctors and a few nurses left the room as other two nurses rushed in with a stroller.

For a moment, Elise envisioned herself there. If only the miracle she's been praying for since she was a child could happen.

The screams increased as the family of the deceased cried with the body now pushed on a stroller.

She would have envisioned her family too, but she had none. Her family would celebrate if she died. Her death would be cold and quiet with no one to retrieve her body.

She used to fear things like this before, but now she just felt sad, cold, and empty.

Elise doubts her body would be buried, unless of course, John decides to bury her. He's the only person who has at least shown her a little care so far.

"Miss Elise Griffin." Elise immediately rose and walked over to the doctor's office.

"How are you doing today Elise?" Doctor Dorcas smiled on seeing one of her long-lasting patients after the others all died eventually.

"I haven't fainted much for the past few days and only did yesterday because I got beaten."

"But I've had recent nosebleeds which wouldn't stop till after a few hours."

"Beaten?" Dorcas asked, ignoring the part about the nosebleeds.

"Elise Griffin, I have told you time and time again to avoid fights."

"I didn't fight this time doctor. The fight came to me and I didn't even fight back, that's why I got beaten." The doctor sighed at her words.

"You're in the last stages of your life Elise. I know I tell you this every time but this time it is real. You only have 30 days to live. Make the most of it rather than fighting." Dorcas said and regretted saying it at all.

That's definitely not how to break a death news to your patient. It'll kill them even more.

Elise smiled bitterly. She knew this would happen, it was only a matter of time before she died anyway.

"There's only a little we can do for you Elise I'm so sorry. You have a family right? I think it's time to tell them." Dorcas said.

"It's time to get a space at the cemetery and register it here for your body to be buried there when the time comes." Elise didn't know how to feel about this. Being told your death day is the worst thing that can ever happen to anyone.

She knew her end was near because lately, she's been feeling strange. That feeling that day. The rush down her stomach, and the tingling sensation down there, was that also a sign of death?

"Doctor," Elise called and the woman looked up at her.

"I felt this weird ache down at my private area." Dorcas narrowed her eyes.

"Is it pain?" Elise shook her head thinking of the right explanation.

"It's... It's just uncomfortable and makes me wet." She said and the woman's mouth dropped.

"I... I wanted to know if it's as a result of the drugs I'm taking." Elise opened her purse and brought out her drugs, placing them on the table one after another.

"The one you gave me finished so I decided to get them at a pharmacy. They didn't have the exact ones, so they gave a replica."

"These drugs cause no sexual desires Elise." Dorcas sighed. Never in her life has she seen a case like Elise before. She had just announced her death and she was having sexual urges?

"Have you been laid before Elise?" Dorcas threw in the question and Elise blushed.

"No." She answered shyly.

"So you're a dying virgin?" Dorcas saw the girl nod and she almost cried. It was so painful to see but there was nothing she could do either.

"These feelings are normal. You should ignore them if you don't have a boyfriend. But if you do, when next they come up, tell him to help you out with it." Elise nodded.

"I do have a boyfriend. And it only happens when I'm with him."
