"Who is this young man? Where did he suddenly pop out from?"
Xavier's dramatic arrival attracted the attention of everyone present. The crowd was already furious after having used all sorts of ways to force the gate open yet failing to do so. Their anger had turned into a ticking time bomb; just a faint spark and it would explode.
Some nefarious elements had even secretly started plotting to use this situation for their own good.
"What is the situation here..."
Xavier's eyes scanned the crowd, especially the spotless-looking young man at the front. The young man met Xavier's gaze calmly and even smiled. This was surprising considering the fact that the execution streak was still active. The Deathwill aura at this time surrounded him as thick as fog; just one look and most weak-willed individuals might faint from sheer fear alone.
"Hmm, look at the strange aura surrounding him. He is just another lucky bastard... why did all of these people get a class except me? If I had also gotten a class, I might have been able to save my friends and even get out of this place..."
The atmosphere slowly started to boil.
Just at this moment, the sound of footsteps resounded, it was Jackie rapidly descending downward from the flight of stairs, clearly not wanting to separate from Xavier for too long. The situation was highly volatile; the wolves' howls were getting increasingly closer to them.
The group's arrival shifted the focus of everyone from Xavier back to Jackie's group, especially for the men, considering the fact that, leaving Aron and Samuel alone, the rest were girls—not just any girls, but each a top-tier beauty with a charm of their own. The type of girl that can only be dreamed of and watched from the distance, especially Jackie, that cold and aloof beauty; just one look and any hot-blooded man would want to conquer her.
A young man who looked slightly handsome with a head full of golden hair, a crude wooden pole in his hand, moved toward Jackie with a look of concern on his face, as if he was genuinely concerned about the girls' well-being. However, anyone could tell from how his gaze stayed uncomfortably too long on their chests that his intentions were no good, the sheer lust in his gaze told as if he had never seen a woman chest before in his life.
"Are you alright, girls? You look so pale and injured. Come with me, I know a man who could instantly heal you..."
The man said these words and tried to grab Jackie's hands. However, before he could even raise his hand—
Paah!
A loud and crisp slapping sound filled the surroundings. The abruptness of the action made the young man stare dumbly at the air.
Millie looked at him with a frosty look and said, "You moronic trash, it would be the best for you if you stay at least one mile away from her..."
The young man traced his finger at the burning palm imprint on his cheek. The look of concern had completely disappeared from his eyes, replaced by anger that threatened to burst. The fact that the man was able to survive for so long after the apocalypse told that he had some ability. The next moment, without saying anything, he hurriedly turned and left, disappearing into the crowd of people.
After that short incident, the number of onlookers lessened incredibly. People shifted away from them, realizing that these two girls were not easy to deal with.
While the attention that they received lessened, something drastically opposite happened with Risa. After that incident with Samuel, Risa looked even more innocent and vulnerable—a perfect target for these stress-filled men. One by one, multiples of them emerged from the crowd to give her consolation.
Risa was long feeling abandoned and betrayed. After all, the man that she trusted for her survival had abandoned her without thinking. She was long in despair; the sudden attention filled her heart with hope.
Xavier watched everything happening without any intention of interrupting at all. His focus was on something else.
[K - Non-evolved Human Level 15]
[Weakness - Unable to handle chain attacks]
"Holy cow."
Xavier almost whistled out loud. This dude had to be the highest-leveled individual that he had seen. It was surprising considering the fact that he was someone with a legendary class and yet only at Level 9, while the dude who looked as if he hadn't battled at all reached Level 15.
He was both amazed and secretly alert. After the multiple one-sided battles with the zombies, Xavier's confidence had reached its peak, to the point it could be said he was becoming a little overconfident.
"If I were you, instead of focusing on that young man, I would focus on that lady at the back..."
Xavier was stunned after suddenly hearing a voice echo in his head, but shortly after he recognized the owner of this voice. It was Zerin who had spoken.
"What do you mean...!"
His voice was filled with confusion, not able to understand what she was talking about.
Which lady? There were too many ladies here, and what kind of lady was this... it shouldn't be someone above Level 15, right?
At that thought, Xavier was barely able to contain the smile that threatened to form on his lips.
As if Zerin was able to read his thoughts, a cold snort rang inside his head.
"If it weren't for the familiar contract joining our life force together, I wouldn't even have bothered warning you."
Xavier nodded his head, agreeing that her words made sense.
Zerin seemingly didn't want to waste another breath. Her voice echoed once more, "Look toward the gate, the woman with one of her arms missing."
"Where..." Xavier followed her instruction and suddenly fell silent.
[Lucy - First Sequence Being Level 26]
[Weakness - Poison]
In the corner, standing by the giant gate, stood a woman looking to be in her early thirties. Her two green eyes seemed to stare at the empty air. Blood dyed her body from head to toe; it looked as if she had just walked straight out from an ocean of blood. Still, even in that situation, it was very clear that this woman was a beauty, with a curvaceous figure that any woman could dream of.
Still, her presence was insignificant. If it wasn't for Zerin reminding him, he might not have even noticed her at all.
The K guy had already shocked him. Now looking at this lady, Xavier didn't know what to feel anymore.
Maybe it was because of shock or something else, but he didn't notice K coming in his direction.
When the distance between him and Xavier was just a few meters, K stopped and smiled before speaking.
"Oh, you look like a natural awakener..."
As he said those words, K's eyes were locked on Xavier's face, not wanting to miss any details. After all, a face revealed more details than any mouth ever could.
