"My name is Akira Shokotsu, I am 13 years old, what about you?" Akira smiled as he told his name casually, while asking in return, curious about the girl he had saved... Well, he didn't really save her, but you get it.
He was curious about her and how she managed to get something like that attached to her. His gaze lowered, hanging on the silver ring around Yuka's finger, where a gaze constantly seemed to be locked on him.
'How strange... That ring. Is it like my shoes? Is it cursed as well?' Akira lowered his eyes to his red shoes with nostalgia and sadness, which seemed to change size to fit his feet.
It was still the same, without any wear or dust, and it was durable, even running at full speed and kicking things; the shoes didn't get torn.
Akira looked back up as Yuka began to introduce herself, his eyes locking with hers, causing the girl's cheeks to slightly blush up at his intense and direct stare.
'It's been years since someone talked to me so casually and did not try to bully me... He seems kind as well since he came to help me... No one's been this kind to me since... Rika.'
Yuka's dark eyes seemed to light up the more she looked at Akira, his lips turning into a slight curl. Akira shivered suddenly. The stare he felt had a hint of possessiveness in those dark, beautiful pupils.
"My name is Yuka Okotsu, and I am 14 years old," Yuka replied with a smile, her black eyes filled with curiosity and possessiveness locked intensely with Akira's red ones.
Akira shook his head as he put it behind him. How could she, a girl he had only met today, have such possessiveness toward him? It was probably his imagination working.
"Yuka... A beautiful name," Akira replied with a smile, and Yukla did not blush or stutter as he expected her to; instead, she smiled brighter, humming in satisfaction.
"That's right, my name is really, really beautiful, especially since you said so~," Yuka chuckled, leaning forward teasingly, her dark hair falling over her shoulder, her face inches from Akira's chest.
Akira blinked in surprise at the close proximity, feeling Yuka's body heat and hearing her heart start to pick up speed. He also smelled a slight increase in her hormones...
What's up with her all of a sudden?
"Well, Yuka. Let's get going for now, we don't want the police to catch us here with those four, right?" Akira chuckled in amusement at Yuka's sudden bravery as he turned towards the exit.
"Coming right behind you!"
Yuka turned to follow with a wide smile, her eyes locked onto Akira's back with intensity. The two exited the alley and soon walked a few blocks away, where a food stand stood.
Standing in front of the food stand, Yuka took out a thin wallet with barely any money in it, and she gulped nervously as she looked at the prices of the food.
She and her parents are not on the greatest of terms, and she barely gets enough money to buy herself a single item and a drink every day.
Hell, her parents even think that she is weird. Ever since she got this ring, they had been estranged, barely exchanging words in the morning.
She forgot in the midst of her joy from meeting Akira.
'I... I'll just not eat today. Akira needs it more, especially since he was frightened by Rika!' Clenching her slender hand with determination, Yuka nodded in confirmation, ready to buy anything Akira wanted.
However, reality is often disappointing and different.
Growl!
The loud growling of her stomach betrayed Yuka's feelings, attracting the Akira and the stand owner. Yuka stood there, as if frozen in ice, Akira's amused face in her vision.
"Uh..." Yuka opened her mouth in shock and embarrassment, her ears and face turning red at a visible speed. Yuka cranked her head to the right and met Akira's slightly amused expression.
"HAHAHAHA! Looks like the lady is hungry. Shouldn't the man pay for food on the first date? Hmm~," The food stand owner laughed as Yuka's stomach growled, before turning to Akira and asking teasingly.
"D-DATE?!!" Yuka's eyes widened, smoke erupting from the top of her head as she started trembling in embarrassment on the spot.
"You misunderstand, boss. We are just here to eat," Akira was amused at the notion of being on a date. Akira knows himself best, and he probably won't date until he actually finds a good reason to.
Plus, he already sensed some weird shift in Yuka's feelings toward him; he doesn't want her to get the wrong idea. Though he also isn't going to stop her from gaining feelings for him, it's her business, not his.
He doesn't need to accept the love of every girl just because they like him.
Yuka: "..."
Yuka pursed her lips unconsciously as she watched Akira's face carefully form from the side, his dismissive tone sending never-before-felt feelings into her chest. For some reason, she is sad and disappointed...
Why would he refuse to be on a date with someone as beautiful as her? He should be happy to be with someone as beautiful as her...
'Akira might be feeling nervous and shy... He definitely isn't feeling both of those... D-Does he not like me? No! He does... He definitely does,'
Yuka looked lost in thought as she watched AKira's tall and warm back, which gave her a sense of security. She clenched her fists, a struggle in her heart.
"Boss, give us two of your corn dogs and two milks, please and thank you," Akira turned to face the boss of the food stand and asked with a grin, taking out the money he stole from those bullies.
Money for good use.
"Comin' right up!" The boss shouted with a grin.
[5 minutes later...]
Akira and Yuka walked down the sidewalk, both eating their corn dog and carton of milk in a comfortable silence, for Akira at least. Yuka was far from comfortable.
'Hmmm... This is weird,' Akira took a bite of his corndog, paying no mind as he felt Yuka steal a glance towards his face. It confuses him about how she suddenly became like this.
'Is she one of those yandere women I hear the other students fantasising about during class?' Akira thought with amusement, turning to look at Yuka, his eyes meeting her focused one.
'Crap! He caught me straight on! Will he think I'm weird? Yuka, you idiot, now you've done it!' Yuka blushed, immediately looking away while berating herself inside her mind.
"Cute..."
Akira unconsciously let out a mutter, his lisp curling into a grin at Yuka's actions. She tries to hide it, but her actions give her away immediately, and it doesn't help due to how cute she is.
"Hmm? Sorry, did you say anything?" Yuka looked up with confusion, hearing Akira's murmur. She looked curious, asking Akira to repeat what he said.
"Nah, nothing. I was mumbling some nonsense!" Akira shook his head with a smile as he turned away from Yuka.
'Maybe this place won't be as bad as I thought?' Akira thought.

I am going with the slight yandere and possessive type trope with Yuka's character in this, because we all need a little yandere in our lives~
