Ricard seemed not to notice the change in Anna's attitude. He still held her in his arms, but Anna felt as though the distance between them had suddenly stretched apart in some invisible way. She no longer felt warmth or safety from him, only coldness and uncertainty.
Anna stared at the earring, her heart wavering between anger and pain. She wanted to ask, to question Ricard immediately, but she was also afraid of the answer she might receive. If this earring belonged to another woman... then what did that mean? Had Ricard betrayed her, or was there something else she did not know?
The feeling of betrayal, suspicion, and jealousy flooded Anna's heart, threatening to drown her in dark thoughts. But she knew she could not reveal this weakness. Not now, when everything was still unclear. She had to stay calm and think carefully before acting.
